Many people fear aging. This is a simple fact of life. However, the fear of aging takes on significant experience in today's world. Many people are afraid that their spouse will leave them for someone younger. While a high divorce rate is not common, especially among professionals – or in the past the nobility – it does not diminish the level of fear many people live with.
Face it, as your body sags, and your eyes wrinkle, you start to notice younger people who may want a short cut to the good life by marrying an older person. And face it, older people are flattered by the attention.
While you cannot turn the clock back, it is not unheard of to have plastic surgery to make yourself look younger. While plastic surgery will not – ever – save a struggling marriage, it may give you back your confidence.
Saving a relationship is a poor reason to have botox or Microdermabrasion, and that is not the reason I write this article. However, feeling empowered, reducing stress, and enjoying your life is a good reason to improve the way you look.
After all, you only get one life. Why spend it pining for your youth when you can turn the clock back with a simple procedure.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a small procedure that rejuvenates the skin, reduces the appearance of scares, removes fine lines, and eliminates the effects of acne. The procedure is simple. The top layer of dead skin is removed promoting the production of new cells in the deepest layer of the skin.
Microdermabrasion is not actually plastic surgery. Treatments are preformed at a doctor's office, salon, or spa.
The skin is sandblasted with aluminum oxide crystals through a wand that suctions itself to the skin. The technician controls the suction level. Treatments are relatively painless and do not require anesthesia.
Treatments take 20 - 30 minutes for the face to be treated. The face, neck, and upper chest can take an hour. Courses of microdermabrasion consist of 4 - 8 treatments at 1 – 3 week intervals. The cost ranges from $50 - $300 depending on the procedure and clinic.
Microdermabrasion, also called the "lunch-time" peel, allows patients to return immediately to their daily routine. There may be a slight irritation, or wind-burnt sensation during treatment that may last for several hours. The skin turns pink for an average of one to three days.
Botox treatments are also temporary, lasting up to six weeks. Even if the patient suffers side effects, they will dissipate within six months, max. However, botox is extremely safe but there are some side effects including bruising, flu symptoms, headaches, repiratory infection, muscle weakness, and nausea.
On the up side, Botox has been cited as a possible treatment for migrains.
It involves injecting Botox into the face to reduce the appearance of lines, or into the neck to reduce the appearance of cords.
Botox has only been around for a decade, so there is a lack of clinical data on the product, but at the moment, there does not appear to be any long term side-effects of Botox injections. However, there is no fear of contracting botulism from the injections.
A single treatment can cost as much as $500.
Enough of the pretension of being happy with the signs of “wisdom” and “grace”. It may be “wiser” to decide to preserve your youthful glory the “natural” way. The following tips may prove useful in your sensible quest to protect and regain your youthful glow.
1. Shield yourself – from the mighty sun.
The sun's ultraviolet rays are one of the major culprits of skin imperfections. As we age, our exposure to the sun's powerful rays increases, most especially if we have frequent trips to the beach. Even if we are only taking outdoor walks, we are still exposing ourselves to the damage that may be inflicted by the sun's rays. Remember, at about 9-10 AM, the sun's rays are no longer effective in inducing Vitamin D activation in our bodies, instead, it is now at this time of the day when a different kind of ultraviolet ray is emitted – which is responsible for skin damage. The damage is compounded the more exposure we have, thus the presence of wrinkles becomes something that is seemingly unavoidable. Aside from wrinkles, too much exposure to the sun can cause skin cancer, which makes this specific pointer something too important to avoid.
Upon discovery of the rays' negative effect on the skin, recent technology developed the sunscreens – produced at varying SPF levels corresponding to specific number of hours of exposure. This means, the longer you foresee yourself to be exposed at a moment in a day, the higher the SPF to use. So carefully plan each day right, so you would never allow a single moment to become “unshielded” against the mighty sun. Some make-ups nowadays come with different SPF levels, so it is advised to use those that provide long-lasting protection. Remember, prevention is better than cure.
2. Say a big no to chemical-based skin care products.
Chemical-based skin care products put your skin at greater risk than products that are safe and allergen-free. Some chemicals cause allergies, specifically some forms of dermatitis. You could be inflicting harm on your skin rather than applying beneficial ingredients. Thus, if you want to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, go for natural-based products. Preference should be given to products that are dermatologically tested. Aside from that, it may be advisable to go for a trial period first prior to maximally using the product. By this, you can determine if the product works for you or not.
3. Say yes to products promoting collagen and elastin production.
The problem of fine lines and wrinkles can be addressed at its main cause: collagen and elastin production. Aging results to a significant decrease of collagen and elastin, thus the skin loses its smoothness, suppleness, and its glow. Look for products that are organic-based, and those that target the main reason for its occurrence.
There you go, three main tips that reduce fine lines and wrinkles the natural way. Start living this up, and convincing others to do the same.
