[F165]Feng Shui For 2009
by Thomas T T, Tho
Feng Shui, is known to the Chinese as a method of placement to enhance your life in every way. The Feng Shui life is basically about incorporating Feng Shui into your environment. Feng Shui allows you to achieve harmony with the environment by means of placement and arrangement of space. When you live the Feng Shui life, you include the beliefs and techniques into your surroundings and benefit from the peace and tranquility that is achieved.
With the Feng Shui life, you are living within boundaries that are comparable to agricultural planning as well as interior furniture arrangements. Weather, space, astronomy, and geomagnetism are the central components of Feng Shui.
When living the Feng Shui life, you can better your health, increase your fortunes and have better personal relationships.
There is evidence to suggest that the practice of Feng Shui in China dates back to as early as 4000 BCE and is still practiced in China to a large extent. All capital cities of China adhere to rules of Feng Shui for their design and arrangement.
It is the theory of Feng Shui that to maintain harmony it is necessary to situate the human built environment on spots with good Chi. The "perfect spot" is a position and an axis in time. Various areas are not appropriate for human occupation and should be left as they are.
Those who live the Feng Shui life know that it only makes sense to live with nature as apposed to against nature. In essence, Feng Shui is the belief that your physical environment influences you, and if you surround yourself with negative, it will be absorbed into your life. The same goes in the opposite direction; if you surround yourself with only the positive, this is what will be absorbed into your life.
When you are in a room or other environment where Feng Shui has been used to create balance, you will understand it in all levels of your spirit. It is only when this occurs can you truly be with all that is natural and positive.
When you choose to live the Feng Shui life, you will begin to feel better quickly. It is something that will noticeably affect your life. You may find that you are much less stressed; you worry less and feel better than you have in years. Many aspects of your life will suddenly begin to flow smoothly, as if there is little to no resistance to happiness.
If you are looking to better your quality of life, living the Feng Shui life will set you on the right path, quickly.

Ancient Chinese way of life is an inspiration to a lot of people and mere superstition to others. Both East and West practice Feng Shui with a lot of interest these days. The guidelines have an effect on each part of life for persons who believe in it. Lately, the New Age movement has been influenced by elements such as crystals and wind chimes.

The core of the philosophy is the energy flow or lack of it. How objects are placed in relation to each other dictates this flow and has a negative or positive impact on the environment. The quality of the energy affects relationships, finance and health. Many people arrange the contents of their homes, following the rules and recommendations of FengShui. (Some call it Fen Shui or FenShui but its an error)

Different rooms in the home have different needs and they have to be treated in a different way. The bedroom should have just one door and the bed must not be placed in between the window and the door as this will result in troubled sleep. The bed should be made of wood and inhabitants should sleep at least 45cm above the floor and be facing the door. Mirrors and pictures of wild animals or water should be avoided. Thick curtains should drape the window and the walls should be painted in blue, red or green shades.

In the kitchen, the cooker and sink should not be adjacent as the proximity of fire and water can be conflictual. Stoves should be positioned in the south corner, the room must have a large entrance and microwaves are not suggested. Feng Shui is also applied to living rooms and dining rooms. There must be at least one wall without a window and the walls should be painted in bright colors. Mirrors to reflect food on the table, the hanging of family pictures and television sets or hi-fi systems that stand at the west wall are among the elements that bring luck.

Even the powder room has guidelines. To make sure there is no negative energy, the door and toilet lid must be kept shut. The room must always be clean and having plants and pictures in there brings bad luck. Stairs must be brightly lit as a dark stairway can bring negative energy. Good luck will fall through open stairs and a spiral staircase will bring confusion. Entries should also be brightly lit but be painted in soft shades. They should be warm and can be decorated with plants or water features. It's amusing to test Feng Shui and see its affects, if any.
