[E315]Euro Pro Shark Vacuum Cleaner
by Robin Obrien, Rob
The NV31 is the bagless, cyclonic upright vacuum cleaner on offer from Shark. Bagless, cyclonic vacuums are preferred by some because the suction power of the vacuum remains strong and steady even as the dust cup fills. But does this Shark bagless upright perform as well as the market leaders like Dyson and Eureka?

Consumers have complained that the cyclonic system used in vacuum cleaners isn't as powerful as the manufacturers claim and these types of vacuums loose suction as the cup fills just like regular vacuums. Well, Euro-Pro didn't invent the cyclonic system but the Infinity uses a patent pending 24 cyclones, which the company claims gives great suction and guarantees that suction will remain constant.

Many customers, who have given reviews on the Shark Infinity, do say that the Shark Infinity does have very good suction - even those who had negative things to say about the Infinity. So on the suction issue, the Euro-Pro Shark Infinity does get a good rating.

The Euro-Pro NV31 Infinity vacuum cleaner comes with 'Pet Care System', so it's been designed especially to remove pet hairs from carpets. The ability of this vacuum to pick up pet hairs is its main strength. Many reviews confirm that the pet attachment of the Shark Infinity is as good as any other brand. The Pet Care System is undoubtedly one on the best features on the Shark Infinity.

The Infinity vacuum cleaner comes with a true HEPA filter, which is washable.

Are there any problems with the Shark Infinity vacuum cleaner?

Bagless, cyclonic vacuum cleaners have a major drawback in that the appliance needs to be rinsed out every so often. Euro-Pro claim that the Shark Infinity only needs rinsing about every 3 months, but many consumers tend to disagree and complain that the vacuum needs rinsing and cleaning on a far more regular basis. The problem about rinsing out a vacuum is that it needs to be completely dry before it can be used; you need to allow 24 - 48 hours for it to dry and, in the meantime, you have no vacuum.

Another justified complaint about the Shark Infinity bagless vacuum cleaner is that it has small dust cups that are significantly smaller than some of its competitors' models. Anyone who's used a bagless vacuum before knows what a messy business emptying the dust cup is. The Shark Infinity needs to be emptied rather often.

The biggest complaint by far is that of clogging. The Shark Infinity does seem to have a rather silly design flaw: the inner screen tube inside the canister is too long, which causes dirt and hair to stay up inside the tube; there's simply no place for the stuff to fall. This is unlike the Dyson where the inner tube inside the canister is 1/3 the length of the Infinity and the dirt/debris just falls right into the canister so it doesn't clog. Euro-Pro should have a re-think about the design of the inner tube.

The Euro-Pro Shark Infinity vacuum cleaner is not a five star vacuum cleaner but it's not bad either. Its price is considerably cheaper than an equivalent vacuum cleaner from Eureka or Dyson. If you're looking for a cheap but powerful, bagless, cyclonic vacuum cleaner then you should maybe consider the Shark Infinity.
