[E346]Examples Of Development Goals
by Koz Huseyin, Koz
Success happens with the right way of doing things. The right way starts with a goal in mind. The next step we need is formulating a goal, and this information is about to follow.

A key note to remember is that your goals must be in present tense, and also be positive. This is a big key, and doing these in the right way, will result in success.

Goals exist for a number of different things. So, we all have different goals. After all, we don't all want the same houses, and the same car, man or woman, etc.

* Example Of Personal Development Goals For A Dream Home
Life is growth, and ultimately we all have a desire for a dream home. To begin, you will need to first consider what you really want.

And once you have that likes and dislikes figured out, you can start creating an image in mind. To put this in wording, you would want to make sure that you have some ideal, some why.

I am happily living in my dream home. The house fulfills my love for nature, and I love walking in the garden, with my wife.

This example shows emotion, it shows present tense (which is absolutely essential), and it includes your why. In your case, you want to follow the same principles, and with your likes and dislikes, and ultimately your big - why, you will be able to set your goals, so they have the right foundations.

* Example Of Personal Development Goals For A Car
Let's say you want a certain car. You have an ideal that relates to that. This ideal is one which is possibly an easier example of a personal development goal. After all, there are only a certain amount of different cars.

Your goal perhaps can be written so:
I have a red Ferrari 308GTB. It runs smoothly, reliably, and allows me to enjoy driving.

Now again, most people will have different goals. And even if you wanted a Ferrari, you likely would want a newer version than a 308GTB. Nonetheless, it will help in this example.

We can see that we have the color; we have the make and model. We know why we want it. And it has emotion in it. This combination is great for success. Add desire and action, and this goal can be realized in your life.

Now, there are many other examples, such as finances, relationships amongst others. However, from what we have covered so far, you have a framework to make it happen.

Here's the easy part: setting personal development goals for yourself. But the hard part is actually achieving those goals. One reason lots of people fail to reach their goals is that they made the mistake of setting blurry goals rather than crystal clear ones. Other people have a tendency to set a bunch of goals all at once. Still others choose target dates that are fuzzy or too far away.

When setting personal development goals, you need to clearly define what you want to achieve. It's great to want to lose weight, but you need to set a clear goal. Decide how much weight you want to lose, and make that your goal. Choose a number of pounds or kilograms, and make sure it's an achievable goal, so you're not setting yourself up for failure. Once you've set your goal of say, ten pounds, you can go ahead and establish and diet and exercise plan that will help you to accomplish your goal.

Now, take on your challenge by setting parameters for your goal that are clear. With your diet and exercise plans laid out, and a clear number to aim for, set yourself a time limit. It could be ten pounds in the next two months, for example. Which is a little more than a pound per week: pretty achievable. You now have a sharp target, with a manageable time frame, and you will be able to sharply focus on your way to achieving your goal.

You have accomplished the first step! You established personal development goals, and you are on your way to achieving them.

Don't set your personal development goals too high or too far out of reach. If you set unattainable goals and you're not successful, you'll feel like a failure. This feeling can have a negative affect on your self-esteem, and on your life in general. Don't go there.

When you do meet your goal, make sure that you reward yourself. A reward makes all your hard work worthwhile in another way besides the actual accomplishment of the goal. This doesn't necessarily have to involve a great deal of money, or a big fudge sundae that will place you right back at square one. Treat yourself to a movie, a glass of your favorite wine, or a stroll through the park. Celebrate the fact that you stuck to your plan and you met your goals.

Having achieved your first personal development goal, now you will be ready to set another one. Always set your next goal the same way you did the first, with clear, achievable results in a decent time frame. And who knows where this will all lead? In 5 - 10 years you will be shocked by where you have ended up. Setting small, achievable goals, one after the other, can lead you to heights you would not have imagined in your former life.
