Whether you’ll use the internet or traditional paper, you want an ad that grabs a woman’s attention, tells who you really are, isn’t clichéd and generates lots of attention. That’s easy enough, right?
You’ve probably studied what you “should" write and started crafting that perfect ad. But what about what you SHOULDN’T write? What you don’t include can be as important as what you do include. Let’s face it, if you’re looking to attract the woman of your dreams, there are far too many ways that you can turn her off before she’s even met you.
The top four things you should avoid are:
1) “Manly" habits and bragging about them. If your proudest accomplishment is being able to belch the alphabet, your personal ad is not the place to boast. Belching and other such habits may be fine in the locker room, but letting the world know about them in your personal ad is going to have most women skipping right past you. Do yourself a favor and wait to share that particular bit of information until you’ve actually found someone you want to get to know better.
2) Obsessions. If your place is full of mounted animal heads, or football team paraphernalia, or you must have the guys over for poker night every week, the personal ad might not be the best place to announce those facts. In all honesty, there may never be a good time to announce these types of obsessions, but your ad should be clear of them.
3) Lies or exaggerations. You may actually be a six foot tall menswear model with rock-hard abs. However, chances are that you’re not and most women know this. If your physical self-description is too flattering (or too good to be true) women will probably see it as wishful thinking and they will give your ad a pass. If you mention that you have a full head of hair, women will likely wonder why you feel it necessary to share that information and will figure you’re balding. While that may not be a turn off in and of itself, the fact that you’ve lied about it will again have women looking at any ad but yours.
4) Using obnoxious words. “Hot", “stacked" or any word you wouldn’t�"or shouldn’t�"say in front of a four-year-old does not belong in your personal ad.
There is no magic formula for writing a personal ad, though there are guaranteed ways to turn a woman off of your ad. If you’re serious about finding someone and having a relationship, then be sure to act accordingly, especially with the all-important first step�"your personal ad.
So often in our busy lives today, we forget about the importance of having a little time to ourselves. Many women find themselves pulled about on every side by demands from home, work, family, and volunteer involvement. Sometimes it becomes overwhelming trying to find a way to get everything done. Women have always been multi-taskers, but at some point, there are just too many tasks for one woman to do. In order to re-charge and maintain one's sanity, it is important to take a little personal time, a "time out."
A time out does not have to be something that is extremely long. But it is a good idea to have some time for yourself at least once a day. Depending on your duties, it can be anywhere from a half hour to two hours. But it is important to carve out the time. Some women even pencil it in on their schedules, ensuring that a block of time is set aside just for them. Such a time out is a good way to relax a little, relieve some stress, and process all that has been done during the day. It can also add perspective.
You can choose to do whatever you wish for your time out. Whether it is reading a book, taking a bath, or visiting the gym. The key is to do something that you enjoy, and that helps you relax. Some women even take a time out to go to lunch with themselves on occasion. You do not have to do the same activity every day for your time out. In fact, varying the activity a little can help you feel more relaxed. If the day is nice, you can garden one day, or go for a walk. If it is rainy, you can sit with a book and some hot cider. Whatever helps you feel like you are getting in touch with yourself is a good idea.
Finding the time, though, is what can be difficult. Many women choose to wait until after the day is over and the kids are in bed. If you have older children, sometimes this can be easier, as you can find time while they are at school. Time on one's lunch break to shun work and just sit back also makes a good time. It can also work if you start your day our with a time out, taking a little time to gear up for the day by relaxing and slowly starting up.
Making sure that you get personal time is very important. Relaxing helps keep your blood pressure down, and stress relief is good for your heart. Additionally, carrying pent up feelings of stress and tedium can weigh down on your mind and affect your emotional health. Doing something that you enjoy each day can help you keep your spirits lifted, and can help you feel better about yourself. And that will help you through the rest of your tasks each day - no matter what they are.
