[M287]Martha Stewart Halloween Crafts
by Elijah Kim, Eli
When you are making decorations for your Halloween celebration, you can't pass up the opportunity to make Halloween ghost crafts. Actually, Halloween ghost crafts are the easiest of all decorative crafts that you can make and you really should give it a try. There really is nothing more fun and festive than a room full of Halloween ghost crafts hanging from the ceiling and invading the walls of your "haunted house"!

One of the easiest Halloween ghost crafts that you can make is tissue ghosts. Just take a piece of Kleenex and gather it together so that you have a "bulb" at the top with the bottom splaying out - much like a ghost's tail would look like! Use a rubber band or a garbage bag twist tie to secure the bulb which is the head of your ghost. Tie it tight! Then take a black magic marker and dot in eyes, a nose, and a mouth and you have a Kleenex ghost. Make several of these to hang around your house so you can show your family and friends that you know how to make Halloween ghost crafts like a pro!

Another way to make great Halloween ghost crafts is to make balloon ghosts. These decorations are made from just a balloon and a couple of plastic grocery bags. Start by cutting the handles off of the grocery bags. Leaving the seam at the bottom intact, cut the bag into strips. Then, you need to blow up a white balloon and tie it tight. Tape the plastic bags around the bottom of the balloon. Do this in a circle around the bottom edge of the balloon. Tie a string around the knot of the balloon if you want to hang your ghost and then draw on a face. This is one of the great Halloween ghost crafts we have found that is easy to make and flies really well - especially outside!

Finally, we have another great project to add to your Halloween ghost crafts agenda - the transparent ghost! First, cut out a ghost shape from 2 pieces of wax paper. Then cut out eyes and a ghoulish mouth from some construction paper. Take one of the wax paper ghosts and lay on top of a piece of newspaper. Place the eyes and mouth where they should be and sprinkle the rest of the body with some glitter. Put the other wax paper ply carefully on top of the bottom one lining up the edges and cover with another piece of newspaper. Take an iron on medium heat and run over the ghost so that the two pieces of wax paper meld together. Once this is done, you can shred the "body" of the ghost to make it especially fun and then hang from a string!

There are so many Halloween ghost crafts that you can make with little to no know-how. Take a chance and find out how much fun it can be to decorate your home with your very own Halloween ghost crafts made by your own two little hands!

Making Halloween crafts is a fun way to get children involved in the holiday and making a ghost glove puppet is a really fun way to get them involved. There are a few different ways you can go about making a ghost glove puppet. Here are some of the ideas that we have come up with, of course, with the help of the Internet.

The first way we found to make a ghost glove puppet is to take a 12 inch square of white fabric or a white handkerchief, three rubber bands, and a black marker. Hold your hand with the three middle fingers together and the little finger and thumb outstretched. Drape the white fabric square over your hand with one of the diagonals running along the top of your fingers. Fix one elastic band over the middle three fingers about where your knuckles are: this forms the ghost's head. Fix the second band over your thumb and the third over your little finger: these are the ghost's arms. Finally, draw a spooky face on your ghost and your ghost glove puppet is ready to go.

You can also make a ghost glove puppet out of a paper lunch bag. First, spray paint or color the bag white. The face of the ghost glove puppet will be the bottom of the bag that folds over. Draw a spooky face on this part of the bag. You can then take and shred the bottom of the bag to make creepy tendrils. Place your hand inside the bag and fold your fingers over the bottom to make your ghost come to life!

Once you have made your ghost glove puppet, it can be a fun thing to write some type of script to put on a ghostly play. There are a lot of places online that have puppet plays, but it is much more fun to come up with your own story line with the help of your child or children. Write the script from the point of view of the ghost. Maybe he's not like other ghosts and just wants to belong. Maybe he is a bad ghost who eventually is taught how to turn his life around by his friends. The possibilities are endless.

When you are using your ghost glove puppet to put on a puppet show, make sure that your play has a moral. Stories such as these are great ways to teach children about right and wrong. Not only do you show them crafting by making a ghost glove puppet, but you are showing them how to be creative with the writing of a play.
