[L578]Lose Weight Without Exercise Or
by Terry Sandhu, Ter

People hand over their money for products that promise them the holy grail of weight loss. When this grail fails to materialise, they don't learn from the experience. They just go and buy something else that promises them the world.Failure after failure does not deter them. They keep spending regardless of the results. It is time to wake up!

For each worthwhile and helpful solution that this industry provides, there is someone who in equal measure will offer a solution that provides answers which promise success but in reality the results are often the opposite. The aim of the creators of certain products is to make as much money as possible, and as quickly as possible. That money comes from you. You pay your money because you are manipulated into believing the pictures that they paint for you. Admittedly the pictures they paint can be very convincing, however you must remember that they have to be convincing.

There are so many products promising to help you lose weight, this is done by planting a vision in your head. This vision will come from what they make you see, what they make you read, and endorsements from people in their pay. However many of the products on offer have at best a minimal effect, and at worst are completely useless, or even dangerous.

People who want a quick and easy way of losing weight fall foul of the clever advertising and the hope that this may well be the product that is going to get them to shed the pounds. The funny thing is that at a deep level, the people who buy these products already know that they will not work. It is beyond belief that as intelligent adults we keep making the same mistakes time after time. However nothing stops them, they continue wasting their money in the desperate hope that this may well be the one that works.

Let us look at some of the products that have been touted as being the next best thing that is going to change your life by giving you the body that you crave:

Diet Pills:

The market is awash with hundreds of dieting pills. Each one making claims on how wonderful they are, and all of them claiming how much better they are compared to their competitors. There are pills that are meant to suppress your appetite. There are pills that claim to stop your body from absorbing the fat that you eat. There are pills that claim to suppress certain urges in your brain that will stop you craving for food. The thing to remember is that anything that you put into your body will have some sort of effect. This effect can be positive or it can be negative. Anything that claims to change the natural physiology of your body must be treated with caution and researched prior to consumption.

Also keep in mind that if you have spent years of living an unhealthy lifestyle and are overweight because of it, the chances of regaining any health by popping a few pills for a couple of months are pretty poor to say the least. Pills are not going to give you that lean muscular waistline. Exercise and increased activity will be the only thing that achieves that. Finally be very cautious of pills that claim to come from a natural source. You know what I mean; we have all seen the descriptions of how certain pills have been extracted from some rare plant which is only found on some remote mountain in Peru. If this plant is so rare how can a company manage to produce millions of pills? Keep in mind that there are many dangerous drugs that come naturally from plants. It doesn't mean that they are going to help you to lose weight safely.

Slimming Creams:

There were and possibly still are certain creams that were marketed as weight loss aids. The idea was that by rubbing this cream on certain areas of your body would enable you to reduce fat. It's incredible that making such a claim would not have been deemed to have been illegal. It is a complete fantasy to even think that such product could have any impact on weight loss, but it didn't stop people from buying it. Weight loss occurs when you are burning more calories than you are consuming, it is that simple. Of course you would lose a couple of calories by the very movement of your hand as you rub the cream on, but calorie reduction at that rate would be equal to losing one pound in around 3 years. Clearly not the most effective aid to weight loss.

Slimming Suits/Pants:

These products are not even weight loss products but still sell in their thousands. This product doesn't fool the people you know, they still know you are overweight, and are just trying to hide it. This doesn't solve a thing; all it does is to hide the problem temporarily. These products may also be dangerous and uncomfortable, they do not let your skin breathe, and can lead to overheating and dizziness. Any problem requires a real solution to get rid of it,and not a solution that is going to just hide the problem,as this will never get rid of it.

If you want to lose weight you need to think of real solutions, and you already know what they are. The problem is that most people who want to lose weight do not want it to have an impact on their lifestyles. In fact it is the lives that people have been leading which has contributed to their current situation. It is not easy to change deep seated habits,we are always more comfortable with what is familiar. The truth is that your body will adapt to change fairly quickly if done in small steps, and on a regular basis. The hardest part of any change is making the decision to do something and sticking to it. Real weight loss requires motivation, commitment, and willpower, you get this by constantly focusing on what you want from your life and what you are prepared to do to get it.To be different you have to do things differently.

Mark my words. There are lots of companies out there that are going to try to sell you something that ?makes losing weight easy.? African herbal compounds that you eat to magically reduce appetite seems to be the latest craze. But in my book ?The Tortoise Diet ? Win the Race to Lose!? I discuss the fallacies hidden in relying on looking for the easy way.

I'm sure that sometime soon a company will succeed in developing a diet pill that really does help you lose weight without harmful side effects. I'm sure that company will be wildly successful, but I, for one, won't be taking such a pill.

Why, you ask would I not take this pill, or potion, or herbal African compound? Because I don't believe that relying on any kind of ?hare-brained? quick fix supports my commitment to lose weight permanently and improve my health - even if the FDA deems these drugs ?safe.?

Let's evaluate the two types of compounds that are currently in the works. One is touted as being able to somehow block the absorption of calories. What do you think is going to happen to your health if you take a pill to lose weight, but because of this pill you are able to get away with eating even more of the junky foods that have contributed to your excess weight? If a pill promises to magically "melt fat" with no effort on your part, you will almost surely be incredibly tempted to eat even more junky, salty, sweet, and fattening foods than you do now.

There may not be any weight consequences whatsoever for this kind of eating, but it's likely that your health will suffer. You will have very little incentive to work at improving your health by changing your eating habits, and you probably won't make exercise a top priority either! My prediction is by continuing the poor health habits that have caused you to become overweight; you will eventually have a serious health crisis on your hands. Yes, you might lose weight by taking such a pill, but possibly at the expense of a serious disease. Will it be worth it? After a doctor visit or two, I'm sure your answer will be no. Then you will be faced with exactly the same problem you have now ... changing poor nutritional habits into good ones.

A second type of pill or herbal compound may act by reducing the appetite, which will damage your health in yet another way. Most people don't include enough healthy foods in their diets now to prevent disease, let alone after artificially reducing their appetites. Remember when I talked about phytonutrients and how important they are in fighting disease? Phytonutrients are only found in colorful foods like vegetables and fruits, foods that also contain many vitamins and essential minerals. What about fiber and its role in preventing colon cancer and other diseases? As with the pill that "melts fat", if you haven't developed good eating habits before this kind of pill is available, you could be setting yourself up for major health problems.

If all that isn't enough to convince you not to take pills or herbal compounds to lose weight, how about the fact that you're still going to have to exercise to prevent losing too much muscle? Quick weight loss, whether it's by starving yourself, or whether it's done with the help of a pill, doesn't work. The old adage of ?let the buyer beware? applies.

My advice is simple: Don't pop pills, swallow potions or chew African herbal compounds to lose weight. Eat healthy food, take a few vitamins, and spend the rest of the money you save on a good pair of walking shoes!
