[M148]Make Your Hair Healthy
by Gen Wright, Gen
Do you know what are the ingredients that create healthy looking hair? Perhaps you have seen, on TV or in fashion magazines, how attractive beautiful looking hair can be. And you want to try to get the same results. But never do so without research and a proper "battle" plan. Otherwise, you may end up damaging your hair. Here is a recipe that you can follow for healthy looking strands.

1) Stop worrying and be stress free.

Very often, people who are under a lot of stress find themselves losing hair quickly. This is partly due to declining health. The body has become unsuitable for hair growth. Hence, the strands have been dropping off quicker than before. Stress leads to nothing but poor health. It is often the cause of serious health problems such as stroke, diabetes and heart diseases. Therefore, always try to lead a stress free lifestyle. A little amount of stress can be good. But don't stress the body unduly for nothing. Do it for the sake of your hair, and your overall health.

2) Get plenty of rest.

Working late nights, or staying up for late night TV is not good for health. Most people need an average of 8 hours of sleep to remain fresh. Sleeping more than that won't help to energize the body. But the fact is, most people sleep way less than 8 hours per day. This is mostly due to work and family demands. There just isn't enough time to spread around.

Catch yourself whenever you are about to sleep late, and remind yourself that your goal is to build up your health so that your hair can grow healthily.

3) Get a balanced diet.

Too much of anything cannot be good for the body. So don't overeat anything. A moderate amount of fresh fruits and vegetables can do wonders for your hair growth. Protein is also very important, and you can find protein in poultry, sprouts, and beans. These foods are rich in proteins, which is what your head needs for hair growth.

4) Take your daily vitamins.

Instead of just taking multi-vitamins, which is meant for improving general health, you may wish to add hair growth vitamins. These supplements contain special ingredients such as Beta-Carotene and Flaxseed oil that is not found in other types of supplements. They help to stimulate hair growth. Note that such supplements should be taken on a regularly basis for best results.

5) Drink lots of water.

Finally, remember to drink lots of cool, plain water. Plain water is free, and it's probably the best substance that you need to improve your health. You don't need any soft drinks or isotonic drinks to boost your energy. All you need is at least 8 glasses of water a day and you will start to feel the difference. You will start feeling more energetic, and will have more energy for your daily activities.

The H2O will also create hair that is less dry and brittle. The strands will have a healthier shine, and within two short years, you will be walking around with confidence, showing off your natural and beautiful long flowing hair.

In drier weather, especially when it's cold, special considerations must be taken to keep hair healthy all year ?round. My best advice is to stay hydrated. Drinking lots of water can keep you beautiful inside and out no matter what the weather, but will especially help your scalp. Water is one of the most important parts of my routine, making me look and feel healthier head to toe!

If you have sensitive skin, you may want to avoid shampoos and conditioners with a lot of dye and perfume, which can make it worse. If your scalp is dry, a moisturizing conditioner can do the trick. If you ask me, conditioner is a panacea for a litany of curly hair woes. But beware. If you don't rinse well, the build up can also lead to flakes. There are many good choices out there. Olive oil is a great natural conditioner that you can find on your kitchen counter top!

One characteristic of curly hair, especially if it's thick, is that it may not need to be washed everyday. This can be hard if you swim or play on a sports team, but if you don't, try putting on a shower cap before you hop in the shower. This will allow your scalp to retain some of the natural oils and regain its natural balance. The combination of dry air outside, and dry air inside (thanks to indoor heating) can really make your body's own natural conditioner an asset.

We know that heat can dry out our hair, straightening and excess blow-drying being the first examples that come to mind. Long, steaming hot showers (while one of my favorite ways to relax before bed on a particularly cold night) can also have the same effect. Try lowering the temperature a bit so it's not quite so scalding and see if your hair doesn't benefit!

Winter can be a dreary time, but one thing that doesn't have to suffer in the colder months is your hair! So, take good care of it, and enjoy flake free, shiny locks from January to July.
