[M155]Make Your Own Hair Clips
by Art Gib, Art
There are a lot of different ways to do hair and it seems like the longer you grow it out, the more styles you can try. Whether it is long or short, you can curl it, crimp it, straighten it, pull it up or let it hang down and there are dozens of braids, buns, twists and tucks that you can use alone or in combinations with each other to style your tresses.

Unfortunately, different kinds of hair styles usually require different kinds of hair clips. For example, I need a long, pretty comb for a French Twist, barrettes or elastics for pull-back styles and bobby pins for securing my hair in braids, buns, and fancy up-do's. After adding decorative ribbons, pins and barrettes to that list, it's little wonder that I need a good-sized container for storing all my hair stuff in one place. So many hair tools also means that I tend to take a small bag of hair gadgets with me when I go on trips so that I won't have to do my hair the same way every day.

Different hair types also contribute to the growing selection of hair clips on the market. For example, a girl with thick long hair will need to buy large barrettes and thick elastics to hold her hair in place but those same accessories would probably just slide out of thinner, finer hair.

In addition to the way they function, girls also care a lot about the way that hair clips look. This is illustrated by the fact that something as simple as bobby pins come in blond, black and brown shades.

As you can see, finding good hair clips can be a little bit of a challenge. Consequently, I was very excited to find a new kind of hair clip that is attractive and can be used in either thin or thick hair to create at least six different styles. The hair clip is built with two combs that have been attached to each other with several strands of stretchy, beaded elastic. The combs hold the clip in place and the elastic strings stretched between them form a decorative net of beads and ensure that the combs don't slide out.

Although you only need one of these clips to facilitate several different styles, it may be tempting to buy a couple of them just because they come in several different designs, colors and sizes. They are also really easy to use.
