[M142]Make Up Oily Skin
by David Faulkner, Dav
We all have oil glands; some of us seem to have the ones that are working more than those of others are. Those with oily skin are reaping some benefits from it. Oily skin will help to slow the aging process and it give the skin a better glow that those with dry skin. Oily skin also has disadvantages to it. Oily skin can cause dirt and bacteria to stick around and that will cause acne. This is more of the case when the person is in the younger years of adolescence when the hormones that drive sex (androgens) are moving around at a fast pace and this makes the glands give off more oil than usual. This makes it a more important time for astringents used on the face.

The oil form the glands does not cause damage and are a great thing for the skin to use as a defense because they keep the skin moist and get also help it to get rid of the old cells of skin that are in the walls of the hair follicles. The way for you to keep the skin looking smooth and with no blemishes on it is by making sure that your pores are clear and are not in any way able to create acne. You can take the first step by getting yourself something that does not cost a lot that is made for oily skin. Make sure what you are getting commercially is not going to damage the skin. The next things that you may want to try are the use of a toner, cleaner, and exfoliate but these usually do not help. The idea that you need to keep in your mind is to not dry up the skin because this will make it produce more oils than before.

Hints To Help With Oily Skin

It is amazing to learn that oily skin can also be sensitive skin. Washing it with a cleaner will cause the skin to become irritated and swollen. When you use water that is room temperature and a mild cleaner followed by cool water for rinsing, it will be best. You should try to avoid wearing makeup as much as possible. It is even better if you do not wear it at all. If you need to wear makeup, you should purchase makeup that is not oil based. Make sure that you remove your makeup each night before you go to bed and do not use a night cream. Makeup and creams will cause the skin to be clogged up and will add to the grease that is already there causing the irritation and the swelling to get worse. Fruit acids will take off the top layer of the skin and still give you the natural hydration you need.

You can also get yourself the medications that are available over the counter for oily skin. Benzoyl Peroxide is one of them that will remove the bacteria and germs and has been shown to take off the dead skin cells that cause the acne to start. That would be right in the follicles of the hair. Adding to the hints for oily skin you should try sulfur products, resorcinol, and salicylic acids to start the healing process of the acne blemishes and blackheads. Essential oils that are used in aromatherapy also help the oily skin. You can add cedar wood, clary sage, lavender, geranium, tea tree oil, sandalwood, ylang-ylang, grapeseed oil, and jojoba oils to the things that are good for oily skin and that help to heal and stop infections and swelling.

Sweat is the ultimate cleaning device for the skin. Outside the things that are good about sweating and it giving you a healthy body, it is a great thing for your oily skin. Make it a habit to exercise so you can get the sweat out.

You may be doing what you can to put a stop to oily skin; exfoliating, cleansing, the whole nine yards. Yet your oil glands still produce too much sebum and all that oil can occasionally drive you bonkers. However, there are some good sides to having oily skin. True, these good things are few and far in between, and do not do much in the ways of knocking out all the negative impacts oily skin can have, but you do have to take what you can get, right?

One of the better benefits to having oily skin comes in the form of tanning. When you have oily skin and prefer to go outside and soak up some rays of the sun, you can be sure to look forward to a nice, even tan. The oil on your skin keeps it well lubricated and helps to even out the sunlight shining down over your skin. This is a pleasure that people with dry skin are not so fortunate to have.

However, you must remember that just because you can receive a nice, even tan because you have oily skin, that does not mean you are less susceptible to sun damage, sunburns, or skin cancer. The natural oil the skin produces are only meant to protect your skin from so much damage, and is not meant to halt all the UV rays sunlight brings down upon you. Your natural oil is meant as a moisturizer, not as a protective sunscreen. This is why if you choose to go outside, or even to use a tanning bed, you should look into finding a good sunscreen.

As you already have oily skin, you do not want to burden your skin with more oils from sunscreen. Important to remember is that there is a large difference between tanning oils and sunscreen. Tanning oils are meant to help you brown, but most of them do not offer protection from UV rays. If there is no SPF number on it, count it out. It can be difficult to find a sunscreen that will not add to your oily skin problem. After all, it would only behoove you to buy a sunscreen, put it on your body, and then discover later that it has only helped to clog your pores, aiding in a new acne outbreak, or has simply made your skin look and feel even oilier.

Easy ways to avoid this would be to avoid lounging outside in the sun altogether, or at least as little as possible. Yet you still want your beautiful bronze tan, correct? The answer is simple; buy a self-tanning product. A spray or cream can be just what you need to get that been in the sun for hours look without actually having to be in the sun for hours. Companies have been working hard and getting better and better at getting the right colors for instant tanning products, so you do not have to worry as much about winding up orange as you might have several years ago.

If you truly wish to lie out in the sun and take advantage of the even tan your oily skin can offer you, then you should look into appropriate sunscreens to help keep your skin safe from too much damage and the development of skin cancer. You will most likely have to shop around, looking for sunscreens that are specifically made for oily skin. You can even go to online forums where the discussion is all about oily skin and ask members what some good options may be. Or you can check with your dermatologist to see if he or she has any good products in mind.

Whichever option you decide to use, always be sure to take good care of your skin so it remains strong and healthy for you in the future.
