[M180]Making Money On Rs
by Gideon Shalwick Shalwick, Gid
One of the things that really struck me as I was talking to some of the worlds top internet marketers was the fact that the internet didn't actually have much to do with their success at all. At first, this was a bit of a puzzle to me, because I used to think that you would need to know a heck of a lot about internet marketing before you could really succeed in it.

But then I discovered that I was, in fact, dead wrong...

Today's interview highlights that fact exactly. Mike Filsaime talks about one of the most important reasons why he thinks he became successful on the net.

He calls it his "Reason Why". The Reason Why he wanted to become successful.

He likens it to someone holding a gun to your head and forcing you to do something. For example, let's say you found yourself in this really weird situation where someone wanted you to create a website from scratch in only one day's time, but you've never done anything like it before.

If someone was holding a gun to your head, and they threatened to shoot you in the head, chances are pretty good that you'd find a way damn quickly, or find someone else who could do it for you.

And that's exactly the point.

If your Reason Why is big enough, you'll find a way to get done whatever you need to get done, guaranteed!

A few weeks ago, I had an interview with Brett McFall, another very successful internet marketer from Australia, and he basically said the same thing. The only difference was that he used another analogy. This is what he said:

If someone was holding your head under the water, after a very short period of time you'd get superhuman strength and find a way to get your head above water again so that you could breath.

Basically what Brett was saying is that if it becomes important enough, or if it hurts enough not to be successful, you WILL find a way to succeed, no matter what.

Think about it.

These things don't really seem to have anything to do with the internet itself. You could really apply this method to any other situation where you want to become successful. The only thing you have to do is figure out a big enough Reason Why you need to succeed, and the rest will follow.

If you can't figure out a big enough Reason Why, here's something else you could do:

Create the environment that will leave you with no way other than to succeed!

Napoleon Hill once talked about a commander that told his men, just as they got off the ship to fight their enemies, to burn the ships. Of course, his men were very surprised and upset, and asked him why he would give such a foolish order. He then replied. "Men, today, we either win, or perish."

As you can imagine, the commander and his men won the battle that day.

But why did they win? Well, it's not exactly rocket science, but they were put in a position where they had their "backs against the wall", so that there was no point of return. They could only go in one direction – victory.

Ok, that sounds frightening to some, I know, because what it means is that you'll need to move out of your comfort zone. It will mean that you may have to "burn some bridges or ships" to guarantee that you won't be able to fall back on the soft and easy option.

When I first got into business for myself, that's exactly what I did. I quit my job, and then immediately emigrated to another country without getting another job. I knew that I either had to succeed at my new business venture, or "perish". I know that I wouldn't have been able to show the progress I have shown if it wasn't for the significant step I took at the start of my adventure.

This could work exactly the same way for you as well. Just put yourself in a position where failure is simply not an option.

Of course you don't actually need to take such drastic steps. But one thing I know is, IT WORKS!

But there is another method as well – the one where you've found what you're truly passionate about and where you feel a massive urge to live out your "calling" in the world and to make it a better place. This is probably the best Reason Why I could think of, because you would act out of inspiration as apposed to out of fear.

Perhaps you could combine any of the tips above to get an even better result for your internet marketing - just like Mike Filsaime did. Maybe you could even experiment a bit and let me know your results!

Now go out and find your big Reason Why!

Did you hear of an overnight success story or two and then get all your hopes up that it could happen to you, shortly before you realised that it was not going to be easy as you thought? When you sit in front of the computer and connect to the internet there is going to be somethings you need to learn and become familiar with before the money starts rolling in.

Learning the ropes of the internet itself takes time to become familiar with. Then there are all sorts of programs that are being sold that, yes save time in a particular application, but take time to undrerstand in the beginning before they can be implemented.

But success in the form of passive income is very real and can be yours if you are willing to research, learn from those who are more experienced and probably be open to learning from your own mistakes.

The story of the hare and the tortise applies to internet income also. Take the pressure off yourself and give yourself a realistic target to work towards. Enjoy the process and do not put all the emphisis on the money making it's way to your bank account.

You can even create a time line for yourself and that combined with your goals will keep you on track.

If you are working full time outside of the home you still do not have to dismiss the idea of making an income online. Many people start around their current employment and then as the cashflow increases they scale down the time they invest into the 9 - 5 J.O.B.
