[A850]Ayurvedic Remedies For Hair
by Robert Baird Baird, Rob
The condition arises when there is paucity or absence of sperm in male's semen which condition is also known as 'Oligospermia' or Azoospermia but actual status can be ascertained after thorough clinical investigation of semen and sperms. Impotence and sterility in males are two different situations which are quite often taken and treated as synonymous disorders, which is a misplaced and unfounded approach. 'Impotence' implies failure of a male to perform sexual act whereas 'sterelity' implies absence of capacity to reproduce.

Causes

Free and frequent sexual indulgence in premarita lage.

Infection due to some venereal disease.

Malfunctioning of the ductless glands that secrete the hormones which are responsible for regulation of the sperm.

Poor diet, poor living conditions, mental tension, worry and inherent repugnance for female gender.

Diabetes Mellitus, Tuberculosis, Cancer, Aids etc.

Fear of incompetent sexual performance.

If chemical examination reveals less number of sperms, this can be treated by medicines and some other means like yoga, more nutritious diet etc. But, when there is no presence, at all, of sperms in the semen, it is a ticklish problem to solve.

Treatment

Give one TSP of dried powder of Ashwagandha root, called 'Asgand' in Common parlance (withenia somniferia) with milk, twice daily or boil the powder with milk and add some sugar to taste, to turn the contents in to a linctususual dose of this linctus being 1 TSP twice daily with milk, or give 50 ml of Ashwagandharishta twice daily after meals.

Most eulogised and efficacious remedy is Makaradhwaja, though quite costly, is unique in its quick effect. Give on empty stomach, a dose of 150mg with butter (1 TSP) and sugar ( 1 TSP) daily.

Kapi Kacchu (Mucana Pruriens) is also an effective remedy for male sterility. Pound the seeds of this creeper, roast them and then reduce to powder form. Take a TSP of this powder with a cup of milk, twice daily.
