[M229]Map Of California Wildfires
by Mark Decherd, Mar
October and November are among the most beautiful months in southern California. Temperatures remain warm, but as the saying goes, "It's a dry heat." The skies are crystal clear and you can see practically forever. However, after a long, hot summer with very little rain throughout the year, the entire natural landscape is brown.

While the weather is gorgeous, southern California residents bristle when the first signs of the Santa Ana winds appear: flags flapping at sunrise, winds blowing from the east rather than the west, tumbleweeds racing down suburban streets, and static electricity. The communities nestled in valleys, canyons, and foothills are vulnerable to raging wildfires that start dozens of miles away and bear down in a matter of hours thanks to the Devil Winds that carry embers at freeway speeds.

Years of drought coupled with seasonal Santa Ana winds blowing from the desert to the coast are responsible for the loss of thousands of homes throughout the region over the last few years. Major wildfires in 2005, 2007, and 2008 have devastated entire counties. Residents have learned that fires located far off in the distance can arrive at their doorsteps in a matter of hours.

Imagine going to bed after watching news reports covering a fire affecting a distant mountain community only to have firemen knocking on your doors at 3:00 AM ordering you to evacuate as the fire bears down on your neighborhood. This scenario played itself out hundreds of times during the San Diego wildfires in 2007. Monster fires can erupt overnight as well, as residents of Sylmar, California recently discovered. A single mobile home park in the area lost over 500 homes.

While the 2008 Montecito fire grabbed most of the national headlines due to the dramatic footage of multimillion dollar mansions burning to the ground and the fact that Montecito is home to many of the country's most beloved celebrities, other wildfires sprang up in the suburbs of LA, Orange, and Riverside counties. These fires continue to rage as of this writing.

While home prices have fallen due to the housing crisis, insurance losses from these fires will measure in the billions. Rebuilding mansions and, even tract homes, is not cheap. Residents who have lost their homes have a long, sorrowful process ahead of them. First, while evacuated, many people are living with the fear of what they'll come home to. Some will find their homes have survived, others won't be so lucky. In between are those homeowners who return to find that their home has survived, but is surrounded by ashes - all the neighboring homes are gone.

For those whose homes have burned, the process ahead is painful. They must deal with grief, finding temporary lodging, replacing basic necessities, filling out insurance claims and FEMA paperwork, finding a contractor, and rebuilding.

People whose homes have survived also have to deal with the aftermath of the wildfire. Their homes may have minor to extensive damage including roof damage, damaged landscaping, burned fences, smoke damage, and water damage. At the very least, a layer of ash will have blanketed cars, patios, outdoor furniture, and so forth. Among the other less-devastating effects of the wildfires include inconveniences such as longstanding evacuations, freeway shutdowns, loss of power and water, loss of phone and Internet service, lack of relevant news, and prolonged stays in shelters.

The Devil Winds come and go from about October through February each year in southern California. The wildfire season has officially begun - and with a fury.

We see California Wildfires today? Where is FEMA, they should have known there might be fires in California in the future. Obviously FEMA has no crystal ball and the Bush Administration did not put in a requisition for a crystal ball or put together a team of psychics, as per Jesse Jackson's plan who might have used their magical powers and averaged out the results to pin-point which states might have a wild fire.

Additionally President Bush is Personally responsible for the Solar Flares as the Sun is now off cycle from its solar minimum, which has heated up the atmosphere. Even the plate tectonics and continental drifts is out a little compared with scientific theories of cycles. This of course is obviously George Walker Bush's Fault in fact he is personally responsible for all of this. Should we demand a public apology, some one must be blamed, George Bush is President and so he should be blamed for the Sun's activity and the rest of the Universe too.

The Volcanic activity recently in Mexico and the Earthquake in Peru are causing seismic activity and this is causing volcanic activity which makes smoke in the atmosphere and this is Bush's Fault too.

The 2005 Hurricane Season and the Typhoons recently in Asia, yep, Bush's fault. Many are now calling for a Special Independent Impartial Federal Investigation chaired by The Honorable and Noble Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as to why Bush allowed these natural disasters to happen and why he is allowing these fires and volcanoes to spew smoke and ask into the atmosphere, which hurt wildlife including but not limited to Elk, deer, spotted owls, desert turtles, endangered rats and Panda Bears in China.

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said ?Don't blame me, I voted for Kerry!? How right he is we all know that had JF Kerry been elected that he would have put an end to this wastefulness of Continental Drift once and for all.

John Kerry the bright star of the Democratic Party in all his granger would have dimmed the Sun for us and calmed it down so it would not be so hot causing these California Wildfires. If John Kerry and Edwards were elected John 1 would have demanded that Hurricane Katrina Stop and John 2 would have filed a cease and desist on Hurricane Rita in a Court of Law. John Edwards would have followed it up that with a Whopper of a lawsuit if Rita had persisted and then filed Mold lawsuits against homeowners trying to rebuild their homes, for the greater good.

It is Bush's fault, we want him to admit it on National TV and we want him to apologize for letting these Volcanoes, Earthquakes, wildfires, Hurricanes, Typhoons, Tsunamis, Continental Drift, Ice Age, Solar Flares and Tornadoes right now. Think on it, after all it is all George Walker Bush's fault. Next time vote for Democrats, as they promise to stop all these things by raising taxes.
