Being a novice to bathroom renovation, I wasn't really sure what I was looking for when I started shopping. I always thought that the bathroom vanity and vanity top came together, so I was surprised to find out that the top and the vanity are actually sold separately. Since I didn't really have any remodeling experience, I figured the bathroom would be a safe place to start. I wanted a brand new bathroom and I took a look at my current bathroom and decided it needed a complete overhaul.

As I started shopping, I was amazed at what a difference a vanity top could make in a room. When you walked into the room, your focus naturally went to the bathroom vanity top. This was because it was in the most obvious point of the bathroom and it naturally was the focal point. I decided to build off of this and would then color coordinate the rest of the room from the bathroom vanity top.

First I took up the carpet in the bathroom, yes carpet. I am not sure why carpet was in style for bathrooms, but thankfully it is no longer the choice of floor covering for the washroom. Under the carpet was a nice hardwood floor. I was originally going to tile the floor, but decided to sand, stain, and save this buried treasure. It was actually easier than I thought and it ended up saving me money. (I did not have to buy tiles, tile supplies, and under-layment, not to mention the labor). Next I removed the wall paper and applied plaster where needed to fix any wall cracks and blemishes. After that I painted the walls a nice neutral color that subtly matched the bathroom vanity top that I had in mind. With the floor and walls done I decided to refinish the bathroom tub. It took two coats of special poly type paint but in the end it was well worth it and again saved money over a new tub.

Finally the bathroom vanity and more importantly the bathroom vanity top. I had found a bathroom vanity top online that I really thought would work with my bathroom. I had saved a picture of it, printed it out and was using it to match my floors and walls. So far things were coming together and all I had to do was order this bathroom vanity and bathroom vanity top. The vanity itself was an RTA product (ready to assemble). This type of bathroom furniture is in-expensive, great looking, and made of solid construction. I was very happy with the RTA bathroom vanity and it saved me money at the same time. The bathroom vanity top was a granite vanity top with a porcelain bowl that I also ordered online. It was on the same RTA bathroom vanity site and it was a great buy as well. The cultured marble has a classic bathroom look and at the same time it goes great with my hardwood floors. Finding these products online made my renovation simple and easy. I used pictures to match the colors and styles I wanted and when I was ready ? placed my order online and had the bathroom vanity top and bottom delivered to my door. It made for a great first project and I look forward to finding new items for my house online.
