[L567]Lose Weight By Starving
by Dan Curtis, M.d., Dan

Researchers at Pennsylvania State University are providing some clues to help you achieve permanent weight loss. They are looking at the effects of your food choices and how they affect your ability to lose weight. (The influence of food portion size and energy density on energy intake: implications for weight management. Am J Clin Nutr. 2005 Jul;82(1 Suppl):236S-241S.)

The researchers were interested in finding out what determined how much food people eat at each meal. You might think that people would tend to eat until they were no longer hungry and then stop. Or that they would eat a certain number of calories and their body would sense they had enough and they would stop.

But what they found was somewhat surprising. They found that people tend to eat a meal based on how big it is.

In other words, the participants in the study were used to eating food of a certain size. Whether half a plate, a full plate, a small bowl or a large bowl, they found that people tend to eat the same size meal. It is as though they do not feel it is a full meal unless it is a certain size portion.

The problem of meal size and weight loss is that some foods are much denser than others. For example, fatty meats and rich sauces are much denser than fresh fruits and vegetables.

So when you eat a full plate of fatty meats with sauces and potatoes with gravy you are getting very calorically dense food. It is very easy when eating this kind of food to get excess calories. Even a small number of extra calories will store as fat, and over the years your weight will creep up.

As hard as it may be to believe, if you eat an extra 100 calories per day you will gain nine pounds per year. And it takes very little of this calorically dense food to amount to 100 calories.

The most common solution is to try to cut down on the amount of food at each meal. But as the researchers showed, it is difficult to cut down on meal size. When you eat a smaller meal you do not feel satisfied.

Now, it is true that portions of foods in our modern society have become bloated beyond all reason. A generation ago eight ounces of soda was considered a full serving; now you see people drinking 64 ounce cups.

It used to be that a dinner salad was a portion; now you see restaurants serving a 2000 or 3000 calorie platter of salad heaped with meat, bread, cheese and ladles of salad dressing. This is more food than your body needs for an entire day.

If you are living in this society and are overweight you are suffering from these oversized portions to some degree.

It is not easy to adjust to normal size portions when you have grown used to the large portions. As the research shows, you will not be satisfied until you have eaten your usual volume of food.

If you are used to eating a whole plate of food, you will want to eat a whole plate whether the food is light or heavy. If you are used to eating two bowls of food, you will want to eat two bowls full whether the food is low calorie or high calorie.

But what you can do is change the composition of what you eat. When you eat one of the very dense foods, like fatty meats and rich sauces for instance, you are not generally satisfied with a small amount.

Your body only needs about 600-700 calories for each meal; this is a normal meal size in a lean, healthy adult.

But a small portion of meat and gravy will probably not seem like a meal to you. It is not very likely that you are going to be satisfied with that. You might have to double the portion to feel satisfied.

But a meal with less dense foods, like grains, soups and vegetables, will be a lot of food. There are not too many calories in a bowl of soup and a heap of lettuce, and add some grains and you will have plenty of food. Even with some lean meat you will still get more to eat.

Soup in particular can be very helpful when you are trying to slim down. If it is prepared properly soup can provide a very tasty, nutritious, low-density food. It can help you feel you had a meal and not leave you feeling hungry or deprived.

So when you add in the less calorically dense foods, which are mainly foods like fruits, vegetables, grains and rice, you get a lot more to eat, plain and simple. And it is always easier to stick with your weight loss efforts if you feel you are getting enough to eat.

If you are overweight this is the place to start. Substitute less dense foods for the heavier foods you may be used to. And finally get on the road to permanent weight loss.

What you really need is a diet that lets you take the weight off by sitting in front of the TV. Think it's a daydream? Keep reading.

You have probably read and heard the data: We as a society are getting fatter than ever before. From young to old, the statistics tell the tale: Obesity is endemic. Why?

There are plenty of explanations, but here is one that I do not think you have heard: We have been programmed, hypnotized--if you will--to get and consume more and larger portions of everything, chiefly junk food, sugary soft drinks and fast food.

How did this happen? What could possibly have such a dominant, insidious result on so many millions of people? The answer is sitting in your living room. It is your television.

Yes, advertisers have slowly and purposely hypnotized you. They peddle their empty calories using the most powerful and effective advertising medium ever created: TV commercials.

Commercials are carefully crafted to entice and motivate you. They can literally make your mouth water as you watch a sizzling steak being delivered to a table or a delicious candy bar being devoured by an overly happy, and shapely actor.

What is happening during these commercials? You are being hypnotized! Your mind is being programmed to want...even NEED...a candy bar of your own, right NOW!

The television screen is zoomed in on the candy bar so it dominates the entire screen. You can almost see every grain of processed sugar, they get so close!

And guess what? You are probably salivating right now, at this very moment, just from this description? Your mind has conjured up images stored deep in your subconscious from when you watched television commercials long ago. Can you see how controlling the video images on TV can be? Yes, they can control even your physical reactions!

If you're familiar with hypnosis, then you know that it is the alpha level of consciousness. You pass through this daydream like state as you fall asleep at night. And you pass through it again as you wake up in the morning. Research has proven that if you watch much television, you are in this alpha state for two-thirds of your viewing time. What can you do to defeat this programming?

First, of course, you can stop watching TV commercials. But what about the programming that advertisers have already embedded in your mind? How do you remove it and reprogram your thoughts? Video hypnosis made you gain weight, and video weight loss hypnosis will supply your solution.

If you have read this far and you still think that I am joking, I promise you that I'm not joking! Video lose weight hypnosis is for real and a US Patent was granted on the technology! Here is a semi-technical explanation of why and how it works:

The average person experiences oral cravings and oral urges for two main reasons:
A. When a man feels tense, he feels compelled to put something into his mouth because it provides relaxation and pleasure.

B. When a man pairs eating with any other behavior, the other behavior will trigger cravings and a compulsion to eat.

Let us talk about Part "B" first. Over seventy percent of the population learns much more quickly and easily by seeing, rather then by what they hear. Think about it for a moment: If you experience an urge to eat or smoke as you watch television, it is because your subconscious recorded the video image of either food in your hand, or a cigarette in your hand, and then associated that mental image, with the image of the TV. From that point on, every time that you watch TV, your subconscious flashes the mental image of the food or cigarette in your hand, and you experience cravings and urges.

So you have actually "programmed" your unconscious mind to make you feel cravings and urges as a "conditioned response" to watching TV. The same thing happens when you eat when you watch a movie, or when you talk on the phone, etc.

Video weight loss hypnosis will snuff out the conditioned responses. It will reprogram your subconscious mind to have the TV (or whatever) trigger subconscious images of you watching the TV without eating.

When the video weight loss hypnosis makes you lose your subconscious image of food, then you will lose your urges. When you see yourself in a behavior, you get a compulsion to generate that behavior. So after watching video lose weight hypnosis, you actually get a compulsion to NOT eat when you watch TV.

But what about Part "A"? Our feelings of tension are created by our thoughts. If you think distressing thoughts, you feel stressed and upset. If you think happy thoughts, you feel happy and blissful.

If you think an unpleasant thought while you are sitting at your computer, your mind can associate that thought with the computer. And thereafter, when you sit down at your computer, you have a conditioned response, your mind flashes to that distressing thought and you feel tense.

The techniques used in video weight loss hypnosis are based on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This technology works based on the utilization of a person's existing thought processes instead of post-hypnotic suggestion. With Neuro-Linguistic Programming, we use the thought processes that are creating your problems, to eliminate your problems.

Video lose weight hypnosis can program your unconscious to use distressing thoughts as a trigger for blissful thoughts. So if you start to think of something that is distressing, your unconscious will automatically change to a blissful thought in a millisecond. You become relaxed, so there are no feelings of tension to cause you to feel oral cravings or urges. And when you lose your appetite to overeat, it is much easier to lose weight and keep it off permanently. Medical research has proven that all of the popular diets work well. But it has also proven that most people fail with those diets because they can't stick to them because their appetite is out of control!
