If you mistype anything the domain will get returned to your account but you have to be careful as once you press the submit button it will leave your account so you have no control over it.

You can then ask your buyer to login and accepted the transfer, this will then complete it and you just have to wait anything from 1-10 days for it to change over. There is another way which is easier for the buyer, if you give them your details they can request a transfer. This will then give you a notification in your registrar, along with an activation code which the buyer has to enter in order for the transfer to begin.
