1) Keep Everyone Informed

You can use the site to keep people up to date with all your preparations and any last minute changes. The changes can be added quickly and then they are available anywhere in the world.

You could include information for your guests that reminds them of their special duties, what they have to do and when. Advice about the various customs and traditions that you will be following, and tips on how to dress will also make your guests feel less apprehensive about looking out of place during the wedding.

And if some of your guests don't have access to the internet, you can print out the relevant part of the site and send it to them. And even if people lose the information you can send them another copy. The work is already done for you, which will remove much of the pressure from your shoulders.

All of that will help you to enjoy the time prior to the event and make your guests feel involved.

2) Provide Aditional Information For Guests

Stuffing your invitations full of additional info and directions can be difficult to coordinate and extremely time consuming. And besides, by the time you get the invitation, and various reply cards into the envelope, there isn't much space left. And it's hard to make such a bulky envelope look elegant.

Directions to the different venues (ceremony, reception etc) and local accommodation information can be added to your website where all your guests can see it. You can use an online map service or even scan a hand drawn plan into the site. Whatever option you choose, it certainly makes the invitation process easier and cuts down on postage costs for these bulky items.

Just include the address of your wedsite in your invitations and your guests will be able to find all the information they need.

Your could even include a page of frequently asked questions to help your guests. For example, Where should we bring wedding gifts? Are children allowed at the wedding? Will childcare be available? Would you prefer donations to a selected charity? etc etc

And if your wedding is to be held outside, your site can even provide a link for guests to see the local weather forecast.

3) Reply To Invitations

It gives your guests another way to accept or decline your invitation. And if they accept, you can collect their special requirements using an online form. Many people find this option quick and simple and would rather use it than having to mail their reply.

4) The Gift Registry

If you have your wedding present list registered with a store you can include an online link to that company. Guests who use your site will then find it easy to find the perfect gift. And to make things easier, they'll be able to order your present online.

5) Not Everyone Can Attend

If some of the people you invite live a distance away, or even out of the country, they may not be able to attend your wedding. But with a wedsite, they'll be able to follow every step of your special journey. The background details, picture of the engagement, the wedding ceremony, the reception, the honeymoon etc.

A collection of picture gallerys with added comments is a great way of saying thanks to everyone who send their best wishes/a gift but couldn't make the wedding.
