[G148]Get Out Of Debt Plan
by Tammy Joely, Tam

A penny saved is a penny earner but with inflation we can say that a "A dollar saved is a dollar earned". One can easily get out of debt for free. If a person starts saving on a monthly or a daily basis, the savings can amount to a lot of money. For example if you were to save $150 on a monthly basis, this would amount to $1800 annually. This is quite a saving.

This amount can then easily be used to pay back debts and small loans that you may have. This amount can also be used o fund any unforeseen expenditure such as a medical emergency which may not be covered by your insurance company. Debt is a financial burden, if not paid hence to, its essential that you write down all the debts for you to get out of the debt structure, in this way, you can prune your debts. Debts comprise of the principal as well as the interest component. If you miss the interest for even a month, the lender has the right to take away the service or the goods and will also charge you penalty for the same.

You can get out of debt free by asking the lender on an early settlement, the lender may charge a penalty for repaying the loan early. Ask the lender for all the clauses before you take debts from them. One can get out of debt provided that they act wisely to get out of debt free, in fact there are also many websites which can provide free advice for getting out of debt. They don't charge any fees. The advice can be general, however you can take their tips and solutions and apply it to your situation to make it work. Debt not paid also makes your credit report negative, which is accessible to all future lenders that you may approach.

If you're faced with a great amount of debt, you likely want to get rid of it as quickly as you can. The cost of interest can really add up. As well, if you already have a lot of debt, it becomes difficult or even impossible to take on more debt for anything you really need. The important thing to remember is not to panic when you are in this situation.

It is in your best interest to try to get out of debt on your own if possible. Many people make the error of assuming they can pay off their debt really quick. They go ahead and set goals that aren't realistic, and when they can't reach them they get discouraged or give up. Many end up filing bankruptcy, because they feel there is no other hope for them.

The best course of action is to be realistic. Make a budget, and include everything that you spend money on each month. Then find what you can realistically do without, and put the money you save on those things toward paying off your debt. Here are some things we can often cut out of the budget:

Eating out- this is a major expense for many people. Evaluate how many lunches you're buying at work, how often you eat out with friends, etc. Make your lunches at home and bring them to work. Have dinner out with friends less often, perhaps only once a month. You might even be able to suggest something with friends that is less expensive that you can do together, or have a potluck at home.

* Vices. Cigarettes, lattes, and other things we buy as a matter of habit are good places to cut back. Quitting smoking is good for you anyway, and switching to regular coffee, made at home with some flavored creamer, would be less expensive. Every little bit helps.

Entertainment- be sure to look at where to spend money on entertainment and cut back. Try to rent movies in, instead of going out to movies all the time. It is important to not completely deprive yourself and be bored, but to cut back within reason.

Travel- if you can cut back on the amount you drive your car, you will notice great savings. Try carpooling or taking the bus- you'll save on gas, car repair, etc.

Depending on how much debt you have and what you can pay toward it, it may take many months or even years to pay off your debt. Keeping making more than the minimum payments each month, and you will find yourself making progress. Importantly, make your payments on time each month to keep your credit in good standing. With a little patience and hard work, you will find yourself someday to be free of debt.
