The main difference between a top loading and front loading washing machine is how the clothes are placed inside. The agitator's job is to swirl the clothes through the soapy water.

A top loading washer must use enough water to cover the highest level of the clothes. A front loading washing machine, on the other hand, only uses enough water to cover approximately the lower third of the tub at most.
However, it is expensive to buy, heavy, smaller range available, usually no adding clothes.

While a top loader is cheaper, faster, lighter, big ranges available and early loading from top. Well, like the front loader, it also has its drawbacks as well. The top loader uses a large amount of water, not energy efficient, uses more detergent, pace needed to open lid.
