[G70]General Hospital Music 2009
by Grojan Fabiola, Gro
July 9 saw one Quartermaine leave the soap opera, General Hospital. Dillon Quartermaine, who is played by Scott Clifton, left the show by heading to Hollywood in pursuit of an acting career. The episode was the last with Clifton in it, as he left the daytime drama saying that Dillon has little character development.

Today, 22 year old Clifton is busy pursuing his musical career. In a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, the young actor said that for the first time in his life, he has found the time and energy to venture into music. He also admitted that he never saw himself as a musician and that acting was his primary purpose in the entertainment industry.

"I always thought [music] was a fun thing that I did on the side," Clifton said. "I've always said acting is what I'm here for, but now I've done acting. I've become more and more passionate about music as we go."

Currently, Clifton has three released CDs to his name, the first one being his debut album entitled Untitled. His second album was Unbeautiful and his third and latest album, So Much for the Nightlife, was released in 2006's Super Soap Weekend.

"[So Much for the Nightlife] has been good? Like every CD I've ever done, it was never finalized or mastered the way we really wanted to do it. We just threw it out there for the timing and because people wanted to hear it and I knew then that it might be my last Super Soap Weekend and my last chance to publicize it," Scott Clifton explained.

Clifton has successfully entered the music scene though he is happy with his character's exit from General Hospital, as it gives him an open door for a return.

"That was the biggest thing on my mind!" the actor said in a conversation with Soap Opera Digest. "My No. 1 priority was to leave amicably and leave it so I could come back. [Head Writer] Bob Guza was really cool. He called me up to his office and said my exit was really nice. He said he would always leave the door open and not kill off the character. That was so validating. I got to leave and still love them at the same time, and have them love me. What more could you ask for?"

Clifton added that he is more than willing to return to the soap opera if they ask him to come back for a few episodes.

"I don't ever want to stop being a part of the Quartermaines," Clifton concluded.
