[H678]Hotel Dallas Fort Worth Airport
by Adam Singleton, Ada
Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) is the fourth busiest airport in the USA in terms of passenger numbers; being situated almost 19 miles north-west of downtown Dallas. As you'd expect with such a busy airport, there are plenty of ground transportation options to get you from the airport to wherever you need to go in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, or even further beyond.

Picking up a rental car at DFW couldn't be easier, as ten major rental companies all operate from the Rental Car Center situated within the airport at the south entrance. There is a also a rental car shuttle bus that picks up arriving passengers from their terminal at the lower level designated pick-up area every five minutes, which drops you off at the rental car centre usually within ten minutes.

If you prefer not to drive, there are a host of courtesy vans available operating directly to major Fort Worth and Dallas hotels, as well as a selection in the surrounding area. Check whether your hotel offers this pick-up service when confirming your reservation and if they do, make a call from the courtesy phone to ask to be found near baggage claim areas in the terminal. You can expect to be picked up on the lower levels at each terminal once you have made your call.

Alternatively, shared SuperShuttle vans will drop you at most destinations within the Dallas/Fort Worth area within 30-45 minutes of leaving the airport, depending on how many are sharing the van and at which drop-off points you and your fellow passengers require. However, it is often advisable to book this service before arriving at the airport, due to its popularity.

Another option that does not require pre-booking, is the Trinity Rail Express (TRE) which operates directly to both Dallas and Fort Worth. However, to get to the TRE station passengers must first board one of the ?Remote South? buses at their arrival terminal. From there it is a further 30 minute journey to Union Station in downtown Dallas or Fort Worth. But beware if you decide to use the Trinity Rail Express, as it only operates from Mondays to Saturdays. Therefore, anyone taking due to arrive on a Sunday must consider one of the other ground transportation options to get away from the airport.

Of course, taxis are also available at the airport. For arrivals at terminals A, B, C and E they can be found on the upper level, arrivals at terminal D will find the cabs on the lower level. At all terminals, passengers will be directed to their taxi by an Airport Guest Assistant, if arriving between 8 a.m. and mid-night.

Finally, for those who like to travel in extravagent style, limo services also operate from DFW airport to the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, but again it is a service advised to be booked in advance due to its popularity.
