Southern California is a totally different experience compared to most places around the United States. And Hermosa Beach is prime example of what So Cal has to offer - a beach town with a carefree population that appreciates the finer points of life, like beach volleyball, rollerblading, or shopping at the Pier.

Hermosa Beach's main attraction is evident in its name: the beach. Although you may want to have a car or take the bus to get down to that part of the town, you can certainly get around the beach area on foot. The pedestrian walkway that goes along the beach is called The Strand, and it is a popular place for the people of Hermosa Beach as well as tourists to congregate, shop, and people-watch.

There are plenty of things to do in Hermosa Beach. Grab some sunscreen a towel and a good boo, then head out to the beach and lounge in the sun. If you want to fit in with the rest of the residents of South Beach, rent some kind of wheeled vehicle and take to the streets that way. Southern California's ocean is fed by an Alaskan current so it is rather cold, but if you like water sports, you will most certainly want to play in the water, rent a surfboard, or just enjoy the ocean.

If you can manage it, Hermosa Beach hosts the largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California every year on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Although the art fair draws very many visitors, another main draw is the music, which is reputably fantastic. The Food Court serves 18 different types of ethnic food, is also one of the stars of the fair, and all in all, it is a great way to enjoy another part of Southern California.
