It is not hard to find the reasons for the snoring, but you will then need to look at all the different ways you can learn how to help stop snoring to find the right cure for them.
Things to look at
* Look at your loved one life style and daily habits. Are they overweight? People who have excess body fat are more prone to snore that people who don't. Getting more exercise and watching the food that they are eating and drinking can help. Alcohol, drugs and smoking all contribute to the snoring problem. If they can cut these things from their lives, they may be able to reduce or learn how to stop snoring.
* Another problem could be high blood pressure or trouble breathing while sleeping; this is may be sleep apnea. This is a condition that they need to consult a doctor about.
* Start your investigation on by changing the sleeping area that they are in. Look at how many pillows they use. Try one pillow since more pillows will change the shaped of the nasal passages. If they are congested though, they should still elevate their head to prevent snoring. Get them to try different sleeping positions such as on their stomach, in this position they are less likely to snore. There are also anti-snoring pillows available, although these do not work for everyone.
* Medication can also be another reason for the cause of snoring depending on what the medication is. Many antihistamines and sleeping medications will cause snoring. If allergies are the problem, then a consultation with a doctor will help solve this problem

Snoring may be annoying, but if your loved one has trouble breathing at night or find themselves stop breathing while they are snoring, they will want to consult a doctor who will then refer them to a sleep specialist that will be able to better help with you problem.
There are a number of different reasons as to what may cause a person to snore. But for some people if their problem is left untreated, they may well find that it leads to them suffering from other health problems including sleep apnea. But snoring is not only a problem for a sufferer it can also be a problem for their loved ones as well.
A person who snores makes a very loud harsh or hoarse breathing sound when they inhale and exhale as they sleep. This is because as they breathe in or out the air causes the tissue in their upper airway (in the nose and throat) to vibrate and so this is when the snoring sound occurs. Unfortunately, because this is a completely involuntary action many people when they sleep do not even realize that they are snoring.
It is the palate, the uvula and the tonsils, which are the parts of the upper airway that will flap against each other and so cause the airway to become obstructed. There are many causes why a person will suffer from snoring and it could be also because of some of the following issues.
1. Because the muscles in a person's tongue and throat are not well toned and strong this will often result in the tongue becoming relaxed and falling towards the back of the throat. When this happens the throat and airway becomes obstructed so breathing becomes difficult and a person will start to snore.
2. Some people's snoring may be caused because they are overweight and there is a build up of too much tissue in the throat, which restricts the movement of air through it.
3. For some their snoring is being caused because their palate is long and soft and it may because the uvula tissue in their throat is too soft. Or their snoring may be caused by both of these problems and again it causes a restriction to the back of their throat.
4. Another reason for why certain people may snore as they sleep at night is because their nasal passages are obstructed. In many cases this will be because there is a build up of mucus in them and so will restrict the flow of air through them as a person breathes when they sleep at night.
If you are someone whose snoring is being caused by one of the above mentioned there are devices and remedies that one can now use to help solve the problem. Some people have found that applying a nasal strip prior to going to bed is effective. Whilst others have found that using, a stop snoring spray or a device for placing in the mouth is effective for them. But for those whose condition may become severe then they may find that the only alternative is to undergo surgery such as Somnoplasty to really find a cure to their snoring problems.
