The Northern Costa Blanca in Spain is among the most popular holiday destinations for UK tourists. The popular areas are the beach resorts, but an ever-increasing band of holiday makers are heading for the golf courses, and Denia is able to offer both types of holiday. The town sits at the foot of the Montgo Mountain with holiday villas lining its lower slopes with stunning views over Denia and out to sea. Many of these are available to rent and make an excellent base for a self-catering holiday.
The closest golf course to Denia is the 18 hole La Sella course, set in the grounds of the Denia Marriott Hotel. A little further up the coast towards Valencia is the Oliva Nova Golf Course that was designed by Spain's famous golfer Seve Ballesteros. There is also the Javea Golf Club, Ifach Golf Course near Calpe, and the Club de Golf Don Cayo near Altea, all within an hour's drive of Denia.
Denia itself has 20km of beach which means that you can have a beach holiday in Spain without having to worry about overcrowding. Beach bars and restaurants are always close by with prices ranging from low budget to high class and with summer temperatures that can reach the 40 degree mark, the beach bars are very handy.
Many of the car rentals companies have offices in Denia, so you can explore the local countryside or visit one of the golf courses. If you want to try going further a field, you can take a boat trip to one of the other Costa Blanca resorts such as Javea, Calpe, Altea or Benidorm. Denia also boasts a large port with ferries going to Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera which lie in the Mediterranean just off Denia, and can be seen from the San Antoni Lighthouse that sits between Denia and Javea.
Getting to and from Alicante is also easy from Denia as the Railway Station is built next to the port with regular services to Alicante via Benissa, Calpe, Altea and Benidorm.
Directly opposite the port is the main shopping area of Denia. The longest and most well-known of the shopping streets is the tree lined ?Marques de Campo? that ends in a large square. This area often forms the centre of the local fiestas. It is easy to spend an entire day exploring the department stores and side streets, and relaxing in the many bars and cafes.
The whole of Denia is overlooked by the Castle. It was built in the 11th and 12th centuries and includes the Church of the Assumption and a number of interesting museums, as well as wonderful views over the sea and the countryside and towns close to Denia.
With so much to offer Denia is becoming more popular because of its large beaches, excellent shopping, regular train service to Alicante, ferry links to many other towns both on mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, and recreational facilities such as the local golf courses.
Altinkum City in the district of Didim used to be a small unknown town on the western Aegean coast of Turkey, partly built on the ruins of Apollo temple in the ancient times. Back in the modern contemporary era, Didim property owners tried to get some money out of the unfertile tobacco fields in the district, but they gave up soon. Around 15 years ago, people from large cities around Turkey such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir first came to Altinkum and started to build their own summer houses or holiday homes. Presently, they built villas and apartments for sale in Altinkum and other smaller towns, as part of the emerging real estate business in the area.
This is in short the story of a town than managed to transform the unfertile land into a flourishing real estate business, accommodating more and more foreign tourists fascinated by the sunny exotic climate and intrigued by the Turkish lifestyle. Presently, Didim property values are rising dramatically as foreign buyers followed the lead kick-started by the local businessmen and they are more and more interested in purchasing a villa or an apartment for sale in Altinkum.
Today's Didim is rapidly growing to become a holiday resort completely different from what it used to be 10-15 years ago, welcoming large population of tourists with its beautiful beaches, ancient churches and temples, and traditional culture. Didim has its own microclimate and benefits from hundreds of days of sun a year and warm winters, allowing tourists and foreign residents owing a Didim property to enjoy the famous beach even in January. Geographically speaking, Didim is much closer to ancient towns and natural wonders than most of the holiday resorts of Turkey and that is another keynote that highly recommends the district in tourists? eyes.
There are many things tourists and foreign residents can do in Altinkum, besides taking sub baths until sun sets. But the main attraction in Altinkum, as everywhere else in Turkey, is the traditional Turkish bath. The Turkish bath is just something you have to experience: from the lovely hot sauna, where you feel you are about to pass out from the heat, to the warmed table where first you get a rubdown and then a soap foam massage. After only one visit to the Turkish bath, you'll simply feel relaxed and revitalized at the same time.
Altinkum means ?golden sands? and either as a simple tourist, or as an investor interested in a Didim property or in an apartment for sale in Altinkum, you can quickly see how the resort got its name. Altinkum sandy beaches, gentle touched by the inviting turquoise blue Aegean Sea waves. You can also discover the natural coves and bays by organised boat trips. The boats leave from the harbour every day in the summer season, which starts at the beginning of May. Water sports, diving courses, fishing tours are also available. The adventurers may discover the area themselves thanks to local travel agents who organise tours to Lake Bafa, Akk'y village (or the ?White Village?, as the local houses are made of white stone), Didyma - Miletos ? Priene ? antique vestiges, Ephesus - Virgin Mary's house, Pamukkale, known by Turkish people as the 8th wonder of the world, and many other ancient place, each of them with an impressive history.
Altinkum is a friendly resort and you will find the locals nonchalant and relaxed in their attitude towards tourists. The moment you will get to know them, you notice they enjoy nothing better than chatting over a glass of Turkey's famous apple tea in all the restaurants and bars existing here, providing international menus and organizing special Turkish nights with Turkish food,. Turkish dancing, the belly dancers and everything.
