The patient should avoid excess of citrus fruits, especially their juices, meats and excess of grains, especially wheat, as all of them are deficient in calcium. Millets are the best cereals for relieving muscle cramps and they should be consumed liberally by the patient. Other foods which are valuable in this disease are sesame seeds and almond, especially in the form of milk.

The use of Vitamin C and E in large doses has been found beneficial in the treatment of muscle cramps caused by oxygen deficiency in the tissue. Vitamin C has been found valuable in the assimilation of calcium in the body and preventing it from piling in the joints. Vitamin E helps circulation in the legs. Leg cramps in some cases have responded to adding vegetable oils, which is a rich source of Vitamin E, to the diet. Organic minerals, especially potassium, can be helpful in cases, where the disease is caused by mental tension and nervous disorders. Elimination of contributory psychic causes are, however, also essential in such cases.

Foot cramp may sometimes be caused by deficiency of Vitamin B6. Even many strong persons suffer from foot cramps because of lack of this Vitamin. In such cases, it is essential to take Vitamin B6 on a regular basis. This vitamin can be taken up to 50 mg daily for months together without any ill effects. It is, however, essential that while taking Vitamin B6, the whole family of Vitamin B complex should be taken simultaneously, as too much of one of the B vitamin may cause imbalance of the other Vitamins of the B group.

Cramps associated with menstrual cycle and menopause can be treated successfully by large doses of Vitamin E, B6 and B12.

A useful method for relieving muscle cramps is to apply heating pad over the cramping area. Massaging the area will also be helpful. Persons suffering from leg cramps at night should keep bed covers loose, or use a foot cradle at night to keep the weight of the covers off the feet. Those sleeping on their stomach may extend their feet over the edge of the mattress to maintain a neutral foot position.

What is the Treatment for Tinnitus?
Since tinnitus is a symptom associated with various disorders, there is no single treatment that will help everyone. The most effective treatment is the removal or prevention of the cause. Unfortunately, the cause of tinnitus cannot always be identified or corrected. Therefore, tinnitus itself may need to be treated. Use of Amplification (Hearing Aids) - allows the hearing aid wearer to hear background sounds in the environment, which takes away the focus on the tinnitus. If you've had tinnitus less than two years, you need to see your doctor for an MRI. I have seen cases where a person became deaf due to incorrect medical treatment. I am not a big fan of CT scans (radiation, esp. for younger people, but if you've had tinnitus less than two years and you can't afford an MRI, then a CT scan is an option. An MRI will reveal more about the brain to the astute professional though, so, I'd opt for an MRI.

I have been told there is nothing that can be done for tinnitus. What has changed?
Over the last decade or so, understanding of the various causes and factors that contribute to tinnitus perception and disturbance has improved tremendously. It is now understood that tinnitus is not a hearing problem, but it is a neurologically-based condition.
How do I pay for my Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment?
We conveniently accept VISA or MC purchases in our clinic, personal checks or payment by arrangement with a hearing aid financial plan, if you qualify. The American Tinnitus Association ( offers a Tinnitus Assistance Fund for economically disadvantaged individuals and you might like to request a Fund Application at their website. Neuromonics does offer a free 30 day trial period for all new Neuromonics users, which we honor at our clinic. It depends on what you mean by cured. In my experience, if cure means "silent," near silent or significantly improved, then yes, almost everyone can improve greatly.
Why can't I just use my MP3 Player?
Although normal music may provide a distraction from tinnitus, it is not a treatment with long term benefits. With the Neuromonics treatment, the music is spectrally modified and customized with an embedded neural stimulus based upon the patient's tinnitus and audiological profile. Through research, we are aware of the importance of auditory stimulation of high frequencies; this stimulation is not possible with MP3 Players because the sound files stored in MP3s are clipped.Tinnitus is any noise or set of sounds heard that is generated in the ear, hearing system, or brain. Most people who experience severe or moderate tinnitus, that we've worked with, experience tinnitus that is generated in the brain even when the original cause was sound or otoxic drugs. If you haven't figured it out yet, everyone from medical doctors to alternative practitioners look in the ear for tinnitus. That's a good place to start.
Should I have the ______ surgery for my tinnitus?
Before doing anything that can give you permanent tinnitus.do the things that work. Except for tumor removal, I have never seen a client that needed surgery, experimental or otherwise, for tinnitus alone. It simply is a risk that is not likely necessary. I wouldn't let anyone with a knife or needle near my head to "treat" tinnitus. Other things you bet. You have to dig all the way to the superior auditory cortex to get to the tinnitus for most people.Since tinnitus is a symptom associated with various disorders, there is no single treatment that will help everyone. The most effective treatment is the removal or prevention of the cause. Unfortunately, the cause of tinnitus cannot always be identified or corrected. Therefore, tinnitus itself may need to be treated.
