We all have reasons why we would prefer to work from home. You could come up with at least a dozen reasons off the top of your head. But did you ever think of why your kids would love you working from home? Sometimes we over look our childrens feelings and insights into our life choices. Here we will take a childrens point of view and share the three top reasons why your sons and daughters would really love to see you work from home.
The number one reason children love their parents working from home is time with you. Even if you are in your home office typing away, your children are content just being in your presence. They feel a sense of security knowing that you are at home. You also have the ability to take a break for lunch or a breather and say hi to your child. Give them a hug or ruffle their hair. Taking just a minute to say I love you to them makes their little lives brighter. Makes every working moment worth it to both of you.
When you work from home your children have the relief of knowing exactly where you are. This can be ultra comforting to a child. If your child becomes ill or injured while at school, they know that they can call home and mom or dad can come pick them up. They know that even though mom or dad does have to work, their parent or parents can be at home to care for them. There are so many times that parents have to struggle to take off from work to care for their children. It causes stress for the employer, guilt for you as a parent and misunderstanding from a younger child. Working at home allows children to be more comfortable with your job employment.
Your children also love you working from home since there is a greater time for special school events and family time. By working at home you are often able to work your hours around so you are able to attend school events and functions. Such an example would be a birthday party or special parent lunch at school. These may seem like such small events to most adults but to children they are so much more. Being able to attend such events makes children feel as if everything that is important to them is important to you as well. This makes our children feel that much more special in there parents eyes.
These are just a few of the reasons your children are thankful that you work from home. If you ask them why they like you working from home you will hear these reasons and more. Mostly you will hear, because they love you. And thats the most important reason to every parent.
A budget is a critical part of being able to quit working so you stay home with your kids. Budgeting is also the gateway to peace of mind and financial freedom. A budget will make you look hard at your finances, the ways you are spending money, it will make you examine your priorities and re-align them with your values. A budget will force you to look hard at your debt, and in the process you may just learn a little bit about yourself. To start it is important to assess where and what you are spending you money on. Surprisingly, most people do not know the answer to this. If you fall into this category you need to track your expenses for a month, do not approximate! What you will find is shocking. Once you have completed this exercise, it is time to get out your red pen and get aggressive. Begin by looking at the "biggies" first. By this I mean your biggest expenditures, like your home, vehicles, insurance and health care. If your house payment (rent or mortgage) is to expensive then move! Why be a slave to a mortgage? If moving is not an option, then consider your financing. Can you re-finance at a lower interest rate? Re-financing can save you several hundred dollars a month. There are tons of lending institutions that are willing and ready to help you with your lending needs, not to mention your current institution. Start by negotiating with your current lending institution, which will be eager to listen if you have been a timely payer. Don't go into blind, be prepared. Go online, look up the best interest rates possible for your size mortgage. As you renegotiate you mortgage, make sure you do it with no points and no closing costs. You need to re-evaluate your homeowners insurance. Consider raising your deductible or shop it with other insurance companies. These companies are competitors, and some will have better pricing then their competition. How about the car you are driving. Is it financed with a huge monthly payment or does it have lousy gas mileage. Consider selling it and buying a more affordable vehicle. If you can pay for a car outright do that, and be free of a payment. If financing is your only option, shop the loan, and buy a cheap vehicle with a low payment. Another option is refinance your current loan. In some cases your bank will be open to the idea. Don't let a car stand between you, your children and financial freedom. Your car insurance is a costly bill each month. Consider raising your deductibles, you don't have to raise them a ton, find out how much it would reduce your rate. ? Also, go over your policy, what are you paying for? In some cases things are mysteriously added to your policy that you do not need. Ask for a multiple car or good driver discount. More discounts may be available if you use the same insurance company for both your homeowners and your car insurance. For those that are no longer working, chances are you are driving less. Most insurance companies will reward that with a discount, but if they do not know about it, it is not going to happen. For older vehicles, seven years or older consider only carrying liability and uninsured motorist. Take a hard look at your health insurance. You would be amazed at the cost of major medical policies for you and your family that you purchase as a consumer. They can be surprisingly reasonable. If your spouse is providing the insurance for the family through their job, look at what your paying and for what! Some employers offer different options to their workforce. Know what those options are, if any, and determine if they are better for your family. I can not stress enough though, DO NOT get rid of health insurance to make ends meet! It is the number one reason for people filing personal bankruptcy. Really examining your expense can be eyeopening. Bringing your expenses in line and living by a budget could be the gateway to you being home with your children. Don't be afraid to get aggressive with your expenses, and what you can save is amazing. Remember if you have a will, there is a way!
