These drugs do not work in the same way. For Propecia, it is a pill that is taken in once everyday. On the other hand, Rogaine is a form of liquid that is applied in the scalp.
Propecia works by limiting the production of the DHT hormones that is said to be the cause of hair loss. It has been reported that 80% of men who have used Propecia observed a change and hair loss was lessened. This drug is not available over-the-counter, it must be prescribed by a physician.
On the other hand, Rogaine works by regenerating hair follicles that have been shrunken to be able to increase the hair follicles size. If Rogaine is applied on a daily basis, there is a possibility that the growing hair will be longer and thicker. Unlike Propecia, it can be purchased over-the-counter.
The only limitation for Rogaine and Propecia is said to be that it is not able to restore hair in the front area. It is only able to replace the hair located on the crown area.
