[H620]Homeopathic Treatment For Eczema
by Groshan Fabiola, Gro
These breakthroughs are not as often as they are presented to be and only from time to time scientists can say that they have really discovered something exceptionally for out health. For example in 2001, tacrolimus was approved to be used on the marked, under the brand name of Protopic. This medicine is used for treating atopic dermatitis, is the first nonsteroid treatment and seems to be quite effective. Nowadays another resembling drug has been launched on the market, known as pimecrolimus with the brand name of Elidel.

At first these drugs were used as immune modulators and they were meant to suppress the immune system's activity in patients who suffered an organ transplant to avoid a rejection of that organ by the body. When used as creams on the skin they do not interfere with the immune system of the body and they do their job without causing atrophy or thinning of the skin like cortisone creams do.

The bad thing about this new medication is that they give the sensation of burning skin and people have complained about this fact. This sensation generally disappears as skin heals but scientists need to work more on correcting the disadvantage this creams bring. In children aged less than two years these new creams are prohibited but it is more likely that after a few years of intense researching they will be improved and parents could use them on small children too.

The good thing about these new creams is that they are highly effective and they work even in those patients in which the topical steroids are worthless. This does not mean that the steroid based on creams will not be used any more, this means that people will have more solutions to their problems. The old creams are still useful but they need do be well prescribed considering the age of the patient and the affected area.

Unfortunately these new drugs, like the steroid creams will not cure the eczema for good because this affection seems to be inherited and will probably reappear after a few years or so. By monitoring the skin condition continuously the doctor will prescribe the needed treatment at time and the patient will resolve his problem more easily than before especially if he has more treatment options to pick from, due to the continuous progress of science.

Eczema usually manifest as reddish, watery, skin lesions affecting people of all ages. There are different treatments for eczema but every one of them would usually end up defeated by this persistent skin condition. Hydrocortisone is but one of the many topical creams prescribed for eczema. However, there is a better, more effective and natural way of treating this skin disease. Organic coconut oil can beat any miracle drug out there for eczema cure.

Coconut oil basically contains fatty acids which serve as an anti-inflammatory agent. Upon application over the affected area, coconut oil penetrates the surface immediately thereby reducing symptoms of eczema.

These fatty acids also have an anti-bacterial effect on the skin. As opposed to topical creams which claim to have the ability to prevent dry skin, coconut oil can offer a lot more than these creams could possibly offer. Another good thing is the organic coconut oil's chemical composition. Since it is all natural, people with other skin conditions may also benefit from it.

Eczema has numerous presentations. They may appear as:

- Atopic Dermatitis - This type of eczema is usually a result of one's genes. Parents with this condition have high probability of giving birth to offspring who may eventually suffer from the same condition.

- Contact Dermatitis - Is a form of skin disease which may be caused by cosmetics, detergents, or other irritants constantly in contact with the skin.

- Seborrheic Dermatitis - This is found commonly in individuals with oily skin.

- Stasis Dermatitis - This is a result of accumulation of too much fluid underneath the skin.

- Neurodermatitis - Just like contact dermatitis, this can also develop after contact with agents causing skin breakout.

- Perioral dermatitis is a skin disease which may be a result of too much cream applied on the face.

For people with eczema, or those who are highly at risk genetically, avoiding eczema is not a very difficult task to do. Simply avoid those agents/allergens which you feel do not react well with your skin. These agents could be those creams, soaps, make-ups, perfumes, and fabric softeners you often use. Once you have identified which one causes a skin breakage, refrain from using it.

No one is spared from this skin condition. Generally, moisturizing daily will keep the skin healthy and away from invading bacteria. Winter months may not be the best months for our skin but having organic coconut oil during these months will surely help a lot in nourishing the skin and keeping it away from eczema. Massaging the skin with this oil will prevent bacteria from thriving on it.

Organic coconut oil breaks the traditional approach to treating eczema and other skin conditions. We now have a choice between the prescription drugs and/or creams and an alternative way to combat these diseases through organic coconut oil. The former has chemicals in it and requires a lot of money while the latter has organic substances and can be acquired easily. There really is no doubt that Palm Tree, from which coconut oil is sourced, is one of the best medicinal plants we have.
