The first thing people think about when they start a new home based business for the very first time, is how to get the word out about their business. The most obvious place to start is with your family and friends. These are the people who love you, trust you, and want to see you succeed so starting with them should be easy. You can say something like, hey Ann, I want you to see what I'm doing now and I want you to give me your honest opinion of it. Can you come by my house on.…? Ask a simple question and make sure you are being yourself. You do not want to make them feel you are up to something or you want to sell them something when you are inviting them to your home party. You just simply want to invite them over to show them something so do not try to sell them anything when you are inviting them. You can tell them that they may or may not be interested but you want to get their honest opinion on what you are doing. Once they agree to come, change the subject so you do not tell them anything about your products or services. You want to save that for the presentation. If they ask, tell them you just got started and you do not know enough yet. Then you can change the subject and talk about the refreshments you are planning on serving, and maybe ask them to bring something because you are planning on having other guests, or ask them something about one of their family members.
Home parties are very popular in the home based business industry, and a great way to advertise and get the word out about your new home business. Many companies such as Tupperware, who market plastic containers and many other plastic items, Mary Kay, who market skin care and make-up products, Silpada Designs, who market fine sterling silver jewelry, and Pre-Paid Legal, who market legal service plans and identity theft protection, all have independent representatives who give home parties to advertise their products and services. Home parties can be used to market just about anything. No matter what company you are with, you can have a home party to jump start your home business.
Having a home party to introduce your new home based business to family and friends could help you generate your first paycheck with the company. Many of your guests may like the products or services and place an order with you immediately. This can also lead to future orders. Once they try the products or services, they may decide to continue to order from you. They may also tell other people about your products and services, and give you referrals on a regular basis. In fact, you can later ask them for referrals after they have tried your products or services. Home parties can definitely be the beginning of your word-of-month advertising.
If the business opportunity is apart of the presentation at your home party, do not be surprise if a few of your guests want to join you in your home based business and become apart of your team. They may see your business as a way for them to earn more money and work from home as well. You just never know who may be interested in the business so the business opportunity should be apart of the presentation. Working with family and friends could be a wonderful thing.
When you have your first home party, let your sponsor give the entire presentation to your guests for you. Your first home party should be a training session for you; therefore, your sponsor should be trained and prepared to teach you how to give an effective presentation. You should be able to sit back, watch and take good notes while your sponsor gives the entire presentation so you can learn how to do it yourself. If your sponsor can not train you, you should find someone who can. You want to learn how to give the presentation yourself so you can teach other people on your team how to do the presentation.
If some of your guests want to join your business at your home party, this would be the perfect time to schedule the next home party at their home. Then you can practice the presentation which you just took notes on, and be prepared to give at least half of the next presentation for you new business partner. You can do half of the presentation and let your sponsor do the other half if you are not ready to do the whole presentation. This way you will still teach your new rep how to give the presentation while you are still learning it yourself. Just make sure they are able to sit back, watch and take notes during the presentation so that they can learn just like you did at your first home party. Don't worry; the presentation does not have to be perfect. Just do it!
Having home parties to generate income and to train new reps starts the duplication process in your home business with home parties. You can make this process even more exciting and speed up the duplication process by taking a few of your own guests whenever you give a presentation for someone. This will help your business grow faster and teach others how to do the same. It is important that you and your team continue scheduling home parties so your business grows and go into momentum, and also start making you and your team an incredible income.
Although you want to really conduct business at your home parties, do not forget to make it fun too. It is a party to launch you new home based business so have fun!
This brave engineer is used to crawling on top of grain bins to work on smaller antennas and he is used to being called out in the middle of the night.
Steve's co-worker, Mike has helped Steve from time to time and he recalls one chilly morning following a rather intense ice storm, “Steve and I headed out to the transmitter site. When we got there I thought the trip over the icy roads had been a waste of our time. The sun had come out and large pieces of ice were breaking away from the tower and striking the ground. The sound was eerie. I'll never forget Steve telling me to keep an eye on the ice and holler if one was falling toward him.”
Mike describes some of the ice chunks as being about the size of a refrigerator. Mike watched spellbound as Steve simply walked up the building with ice falling all around him, worked on the transmitter to get the radio station back on the air, and then walk out through falling ice without ever looking up – and without ever getting hit.
Some might call Steve's actions insane, but in some sense Steve responded to a problem in the same way many home-based business owners do; identify the problem and then do whatever it takes to fix the problem in spite of the risks that may be involved.
It is a fallacy to believe that there are no risks in home-based businesses. If risk bothers you then you might avoid developing your own business. There are no guarantees in life and certainly none in the ownership of your own business. Coincidentally you will not even find a guarantee in accepting a job as an employee of a large firm.
Hopefully the risk involved in your home-based business is financial and not physical, but the picture of Steve walking through falling ice is a powerful reminder that there are risks involved in whatever we do and we have to be aware of the risks and be willing to fight for what we believe in – to work for what we want to achieve.
It takes a special type of individual to see the challenge and possibility in home-based business and determine the risk is worth the ultimate reward and the sacrifice is worth the potential satisfaction.
The key role in any home-based business is to pay attention to the one step in front of you without either spending too much time looking back or concentrating too much on what may be ahead. If you can learn to take problems one at a time, and in order, the process may not seem as daunting as you go through it.
So the next time you have something difficult to work through in your business, think of Steve. Comparatively speaking your problems should never be quite as bad.
