Many have started a legitimate work from home business online due to its flexible working hours and high earning possibilities. Well, they would get all excited, register a domain name for their new found online business and sign up with a hosting company. The next step is to drive traffic to their site and generate sales. More traffic equals to more sales, simple. In this article I will be touching on the importance of article marketing and how to utilize it to boost your ranking in the search engines.
There are basically three ways of driving traffic with article marketing. One way is, you write interesting articles on popular topics and persuade readers to visit your site and find out more information through your author biography. This is the direct traffic driving method, because you will get a direct response from the readers to visit your site. The effectiveness of this method would very much depend on the online business niche that you are targeting and how big your market share is.
The other method would be to write articles on the keywords or keyword phrases that your site is optimized with. Now, this helps in boosting your ranking in the search engines. This is what I call the indirect traffic driving method, because you will only see the results after 3 or 6 months down the road of constant article writing and submissions. The best part is, once your site is placed in the first page of search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN, you will get an avalanche of traffic for free. Needless to say, this is the best means of traffic online business owners can hope for. Let me elaborate more on this.
When you submit your articles to article directories, you are actually creating one-way backlinks to your website and these are backlinks of the highest quality in the search engines point of view. Generally, the higher the number of one-way backlinks you have to your site, the higher your site ranking will be. There's one crucial point to take note of though, when creating anchor texts in your author biography. That is, always use keywords or keyword phrases that your article is optimized with as your anchor texts and no other. The third and the ultimate method would be to combine methods one and two above. This way you will get instant and long-term traffic.
My advice to you who are just starting out or have started a legitimate work from home business online is to learn SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Do the on-page optimization for your website and carry out off-page optimization (backlinks) with article writing and article submissions to article directories. You will also be viewed as an expert or an authority in your market niche when you start writing articles, thus, gaining trust and respect from visitors to your site. To me, this is the best way of promoting your online business.
It's a sad fact that at least 95% of them will go back to the treadmill thinking that it's near on impossible to make any money on the Internet. It's even sadder when you consider that there possibly has never been a better time to capitalise on Internet growth.
So where are all these people going wrong? It's certainly not from want of trying but there has to be something stopping their progress! I personally don't think it can be boiled down to one specific thing but there are a few glaringly obvious facts that the majority either don't pick up on or just ignore.
Firstly, a point of difference - what makes a person special in the world of Internet Marketing. Every day, I get countless eMails marketing the same products that for me just might as well be from the same person. Why? Because I don't know them and therefore I'm not sure I can trust their opinion. They could be anyone and with all the scams out there you can't really blame anyone for not clicking on their links. Now, along comes a similar eMail but this time from my favourite Internet Marketer. This guy more often than not sends me useful information and resources. I click, I buy and the Guru makes yet more money. Meanwhile, the novice throws money into the advertising black hole. He might as well stand there and shovel it in or hand it directly to the Guru who is going to get it anyway!
Secondly, people have very small attention spans. They switch from product to product in the hope that one of them will pay off big. This is largely a problem caused by the Internet itself and its get rich quick mentality. We are all misled into believing that we can make big money overnight. I admit, it does happen once in a blue moon but for the majority of us it takes time and time is not something people are willing to give. I often find it funny that people will throw money at something they spent time to earn and yet will not spend time on something in order to earn.
Lastly, people focus on the product and should be focusing on the system behind the product. This is exactly what the big players are doing when they get you to sign up as an affiliate. Now instead of one worker ant trying to build an empire we have thousands upon thousands and who cares if the odd one drops dead from exhaustion. There's plenty more to fill the gap and they're lining up as I write.
Well what of the perfect work at home business opportunity? Arguably, there is no such thing but I would suggest if you address the above problems you would be approaching something near perfect, especially when you consider the rate at which people join the Internet community on a daily basis.
How do you address the above problems? With a good system of course! You see, a good system will tap into an endless source of leads. It will allow you to build a reputation with those leads and then get those leads to work for you. Just like a sales manager getting his cut of the salesman's efforts. What's more the system would actually pay it's own way by tapping into something people want in a growing business. Any business directly fuelled by Internet expansion itself.
It's funny but the attention span of the average person can be greatly increased when they begin to make some money. Of course, now your attention is on the system and not the product. When someone tries to leverage a product it usually means people are being misled or even lied to. A product is what it is with all its benefits, features and drawbacks and people either want it or they don't - period.
Now leveraging a system is another story. You can leverage a system in countless ways and then in turn find out what works and what doesn't. The whole process is refined and voila! - you make product sales on the back of the system.
Get your head around Internet Marketing Systems and you are well on the road to freedom!
