[H456]Home Alarm Monitoring System
by Hal Clarkson, Hal
As I rounded the corner of the next street I heard a familiar sound in the distance. A home alarm system was ringing. As I got nearer to the source of the sound to my surprise I realised it was my neighbour John's house. I had known John for many years. We go out for a beer every Thursday and shoot some pool.

As I continued I saw quite a number of people on both sidewalks. They were just walking past John's house! They were walking past without taking the slightest bit of notice! I thought to myself do they not care? How can they be so disinterested so callous?

How would they feel if it was their house that was being burgled? I tried to be charitable and non-judgemental. Perhaps they have heard so many home alarms systems ringing that they have just simply got fed up with the situation and decided not to take any interest at all.

Or perhaps they were afraid that if they became involved they would be in danger themselves from intruders, I couldn't decide.

Anyway at that point I decided to investigate it for myself after all it was my neighbour's house. I opened the gate and walked along the path down the side of the house. His home alarm system was still ringing. The front of the house looked onto the sidewalk the windows and the front door all seemed to be intact.

I continued down the side of the house and turned the corner to the front of the house. I walked past the back door which looked fine and on towards the first large double window. In the corner of the window I saw a cracked pane and what I would describe as signs where someone had been trying to force the window open. There were chunks of the frame in small bits on the floor and of course flakes of paint everywhere.

There were definitely signs of an attempted break-in but it was also clear to me it was an aborted attempt.

Now just at that moment what do you think happened? What would you think was the worst thing that could happen to you in that situation?

Yes that's right the Cops arrived. He too had heard the home alarm system ringing. There I was standing at the scene of a crime. I turned around slowly to face the policeman. His hand had moved slowly to his waist ready to draw his weapon.

At that precise moment out of the corner of my eye I spotted a large screwdriver lying on the ground. The implement that I assumed the burglar had used. I was clearly in the frame (no pun intended). Now how was I going to explain this? ??.continued

It certainly looked like I was implicated and I'm sure that's how the cop saw it. I was clearly in the frame (no pun intended). How was I going to explain this?

Well fortunately for me I didn't need to do a lot of explaining because right behind the policeman by I'd say ten seconds walked my neighbour John. Thank God! Boy was I glad to see him.

At that point I explained my presence John confirmed my identity the cop did his bit made out his report and was about to leave. John said to him I don't know what good these this home alarms system is I have just been visited by a burglar.

Then the cop in his wisdom replied; well he didn't get in did he? And you didn't lose anything did you? And at least you know you have friends looking out for you now, and if you hadn't had an alarm going off I wouldn't be here and you can bet I'll be watching this area in the future, so count your blessings.

John just looked at me and said I guess that says it all really-c'mon in Bill and have a coffee, and we did.

You see the point of this is all though John had a burglar visit his house and nobody seemed to take notice actually lots of people did. There was me, there was the cop. I found out later that two other neighbours had called it in and at least three other people had called each other and discussed what they should do.

We also need to understand that just because you have a home alarm system it doesn't mean you are not going to get a visit from a burglar. But what it does mean is that your chances of avoiding loss and an unpleasant experience are greatly reduced by having a home alarm system installed and in good working order.

There is no foolproof system but you greatly improve your chances of not being burgled or the burglar taking off when he hears the alarm or even walking by your house when he sees your home alarm system and so he chooses your neighbours house instead of yours.

Modern home alarm systems are easy to install or have installed. They are relatively inexpensive. They give you confidence when leaving your home for a spell. And you can always upgrade them if you have a little more money to spend in the future.

You can shop around in the high street or find plenty of sellers on the internet. The choice is up to you. Give your self the peace of mind you deserve and get your self a home alarm system
