[I324]Installing Wall Air Conditioner
by Jason Uvios, Jas
There is hardly any difference between wall air conditioners and window air conditioners, only that one is installed in a window while the other is installed through a wall. The wall air conditioners are also rear-vented. Like the window air conditioners the wall air conditioners are also built to be effective for a single room. The way they are designed it helps a smooth exchange of the cool and dry air into the room as the warm and damp air is forced outside.

The general method of installing wall air conditioners is to make a hole in the exterior wall of the room. If the wall doesn't have any pipes of wires running along it, then making the hole wouldn't be too much of a trouble. All you would need to have is the basic carpentry skills. But if the wall is made from concrete or it is of bricks, then it is advisable that you hand over the job to an expert. Unless you are experienced in the job, there is no reason whatsoever to try and do such a task by yourself. You can land up yourself in a real quandary. Get help of a professional contractor and get the job done.

If you yourself are going to install it, then before you even begin the job read the instruction manual very carefully. The manufacturers would have outlined the details of installing the unit. Read through the literature minutely and make sure you have understood all the details. If you have any queries call the customer help desk of the manufacturer and get your doubts cleared.

Once you have understood what needs to be done, you can then proceed with the job of cutting the hole. Always remember to set the unit slightly out of level. This will allow the condensate to drain easily. Plugging the unit is also crucial and it should be done with proper attention. Check the voltage it needs to be plugged in - whether 120 volts or 240 volts. It shouldn't happen that the unit overloads the outlet circuit. Another small thing but we often forget to take care when we make the hole in the wall is that if the cord from the unit reaches the plug point.

These are few of the basic things you need to keep in mind. But we would advice that if you are not absolutely sure about being able to do it by yourself you shouldn't be trying to do it.
