As I troll around the Internet looking for writing jobs, I often come across ads for working at home on how you can make money if you choose to get into this or that program. Immediately the red flags go up because of the proliferation of companies that are only interested in doing one thing: separating you from your money and placing it into THEIR pockets.
These charlatans make it all the more difficult for a legitimate company to penetrate all of the bad messages and programs out there and try to get their information out about a truly honest, upright program for making money at home. But, it is still worth the try.
When it comes to making money at home, you basically have two options. First, there are the traditional Multi-Level Marketing programs that include cosmetics, health and wellness products and a lot more. What these programs come down to is that you handle products and then, build a 'down line' of people that you recruited who sell the same things that you do. Sound like a lot of work? It is.
The next option is what I believe to be the better of the two: find a program that you can use to make money at home without handling products. You can do this by choosing a GOOD program that helps you sell products or services on the Internet. This is a better plan, because you do not have to handle products. And, if you choose to sell services or electronic documents then it is all the better.
That is why I chose to become a freelance writer. Think about this: I have unlimited inventory (words), they cost me nothing, and there are very few if any returns (sometimes you do have to deal with a client who might have wanted something a little different than what you delivered). Using the power of words, I am able to build up a home-based business that provides a comfortable income that rivals many full-time jobs.
Yes, I can set my own hours and I am free to move about when needed. But, what I have found is that the work sets my hours for me. I know what I have to get done and what the deadlines are, so I schedule my work towards accomplishing those jobs on that basis. But, I also have the freedom to re-schedule items and take a bit of time off for myself if I find the need. Flexibility is built in as a benefit.
If I can do this, so can you. It is not that hard to set up and begin. You need a computer and Internet connection and the ability to write. Also, a healthy desire and confidence to make it happen will not hurt either. Once you immerse yourself into this world of writing on the Internet, you will become comfortable with what is out there and what expectations exist.
If you are concerned because you do not have any experience, then the best advice is to read and begin writing. If you like to read, it will help you learn what good writing is all about. Look at different writing and ask yourself what keeps your attention and what does not.
As for writing, you just need to start. I began by sending out an interview email to a colleague and asking if they would write some answers to some questions that I came up with on rearing children. Then, I obtained permission to use those answers and created fictitious names that I used in the story. That began my writing career. I received a lot of good responses to that article, but here is a little secret: I never sold it to anyone. I have used it strictly to show what I can do. That is what you need to do, too.
Once you get going and create contacts with other writers on the Internet, you will find that there is a LOT of help that you can use to learn from where to obtain writing jobs.
This is not all there is, but it is the basics. You, too, can make a good living in writing on the Internet. In fact, there seems to be very little slow down, economically speaking, in this industry. Good writers are in demand and there are jobs waiting to be taken right now.
