New homes these days come with fully furnished equipment, mod con kitchen, newly fitted tiled bathrooms and modern decor for the bedrooms. Unfortunately they still come with radiant heating which in this day and age has proven to be less energy efficient. They are highly effective in providing into a single room but they are also something of a nuisance. These very often only seem to warm up the upper half of the body rather than the all important lower part of the body.

Warming up the top half of the body usually leaves people feeling extremely dehydrated, lethargic, often suffering from headaches and feeling uncomfortable. This can be very unfortunate especially if you live in a climate such as that of the UK. Other types of heating systems tend to be more expensive, some come in the of portable fan heaters which are more uncomfortable and can often be dangerous.

Other more modern heating systems such as floor heating tend to be more cost effective and energy efficient. These can be installed as hydraulic systems or as an electric system which is designed to warm up the house evenly, distributing heat underneath the floor boards. The advantages of having these installed are that they provide heating for tiled and wooden floors, therefore reducing the uncomfortable feeling of walking barefoot on cold flooring; and they warm up the bottom half of the body making it feeling more comfortable and reducing the feelings of lethargy.

Floor heaters are designed to heat the room evenly, through circulating heat from the floorboards. This means that the heat does not reach the ceiling area where it is not needed and evidently wasted. Radiant heaters rise up to the ceiling making the warmest part of the room, and only managing to heat up the top half of the body. Floor heaters maintain heat towards the bottom half of the home by gently rising keeping the feet warm.

On top of the even distribution of heat, floor heating systems are easily controllable from one controlling device. The thermostat can be set to warm up rooms individually, controlling the temperature and placing a timer for those individual rooms. This works by separating the heaters into zones, therefore, you are able to determine which zones are warmed up first and for how long. These can also be used as a coolant during the hot summer periods, making them more efficient in cooling the rooms better than a ceiling or standing fan.

They are cost effective in that they can be controlled individually and they heat the rooms up gradually without wasting any energy in doing so. They require a lower temperature setting compared to a normal radiator, therefore it will cost less to run. There will also be less dust traps as radiators tend to attract more dust, which can aggravate people with dust allergies. The furniture around the room can also be easily laid out, because floor heating systems do not need to be mounted on walls like radiators reducing space wastage and allowing for a relatively dust free air.
