We have seen many hidden object games based on detective stories in the past and most of the time, they have compelling storylines enough for you to play until the end. In Insider Tales: Stolen Venus you also play as a detective trying to solve a mysterious case. Also, I did play it until the end, but I really wouldn't say that this storyline is as compelling as I expect it to be.

Anyway, let's review first.

The start of the story takes place in Italy, within the confines of Uffizi Gallery. One day, the painting of "The Birth of Venus" just went missing, causing a stir in the museum. As one of the best investigators of the city, you playing as Francesca DiPorta need to trace the culprit behind the missing painting. Your adventure takes you to a local town bearing the actual background of the masterpiece, making the robbery more mysterious than it seems at first.

Insider Tales: Stolen Venus is your typical hidden object game composed of a variety of gameplays. Throughout the adventure, you may be tasked to find listed objects, enumerated items, or broken parts of whole items. Sometimes, you'll also encounter a find the difference type of gameplay and its variety which entails you to put objects back into their proper places.

All in all, gameplay is the greatest feature of this game. One thing that stands out also is the included mini games you play from time to time. Mini games don't really have any connection to the storyline but all of them are designed pretty well. Puzzles include jigsaw, memory games and two varieties of block games that are sure to challenge you and keep your mind off of the hidden object scenes. They are pretty addictive too, maybe even more addictive than the actual gameplay.
