[H1755]How To Win A Million Dollars
by Dax Moy, Dax
You know, the kind of lightbulb-over-the-head ideas that you just know without a shadow of a doubt will change not only your life but also the lives of everyone you share it with?

And yes, as its name suggests, will net you millions upon millions of dollars as your 'just reward' for being the clever-clogs who was bright enough to think of the idea in the first place.

I'm sure you have.

After all, we've all had these ideas haven't we?

Maybe for you it was an idea for a book that would solve a pressing problem face by the masses.

Maybe it was an award winning script for a life-changing movie or play that would impact upon an entire generation of people.

Maybe it was an idea for new invention or some new technological widget that would change the entire face of industry for the entire planet.

Maybe it was none of these things.

Maybe it was all three!

Regardless of the specifics though, I'm pretty certain that you, like everyone else I've ever spoken to, have experienced 'million dollar idea syndrome' at some point or another and said to yourself "Wow! This could change EVERYTHING!" right?

And then what?

I mean, what happened next?

Did you wake up one morning a year or so later in the home of your dreams with a bigger bank account and a book, film widget or invention accredited to you or did something else happen?

Did you find that shortly after thinking about your million dollar idea that you, like many others, relegated it to 'dumb idea' status?

Did you find that, rather than it being as simple or as straightforward as it seemed when you first thought of it, that it had now seemed far more complex and full of problematic barriers and obstacles that are, at least to you, bigger problems than you're capable of solving?

If your answer to the above question was 'yes' and you've often found yourself not actively pursuing your million-dollar idea then you're certainly not alone. In fact, most great ideas end up in the trash, unactioned and unused by those who originally thought of them.

Then something strange happens.

Some time after you've discarded your 'dumb idea', maybe a month, maybe a year or maybe even 10 years later, you see your idea brought to life by someone else.

Not just 'sort of' like your idea but the identical idea in every minute little detail.

And not only is that person using your idea, THEY are making millions from it!

Ever had this happen?

I certainly have!

In fact, I've lost track of the number of million-dollar-ideas that I've had 'stolen' over the years as a result of my inaction yet, as I watched each one brought to life by someone else, I learned a little bit more about how to make sure that my ideas and the wealth they create could remain mine rather than being credited to someone else.

I'm now at the point where not only do I have million-dollar-ideas on a regular basis but that each of those ideas actually puts money into my bank account rather than someone else's.

Want to know how you can have this happen for you?

Do you want me to uncover the 'secret ingredient' for generating incredible success in practically ANY area of your life faster and with greater certainty than most people would ever believe possible?

It can be summed up in one single, solitary sentence.

Ready?

The energy is NOT in the idea; it's in the execution.

Read that again, it's important.

The energy is NOT in the idea; it's in the execution.

Not what you wanted to hear was it?

You wanted a 'secret' or 'magic pill' that would miraculously bring your ideas to life didn't you?

Well, I just gave you the ONLY true secret (though it's not a secret at all!) to making your ideas into millions.

The energy is NOT in the idea; it's in the execution.

Thinking of writing that book or that play or that movie won't get it written. Only the physical act of writing your thoughts onto a sheet of paper, even if only one page a day, will bring your idea to life.

Thinking of creating your new 'super-widget' won't get it built. Only the physical act of writing down your ideas, drawing your sketches and having a prototype made will bring it to life.

Thinking of new and powerful ways to end disease, bring about world peace or making people happier won't change a single thing for anyone. Only action can accomplish any of this.

So, again we have confirmation that the energy is NOT in the idea; it's in the execution of that idea.

It's about taking action.

So, next time you're tempted to dump your 'dumb idea' in the trash, don't.

Instead, commit to taking one single, solitary action step toward bringing it to life.

Once you done that, carry out another step, then another and once you've done that take another still.

When, and only when, you do this does the 'magic' happen and you'll finally see your million-dollar-idea come to life.

Will it ALWAYS work to generate your million dollars?

Of course not! You know I'd be lying if I said it would and, besides, you simply wouldn't believe me.

But I do know this; commitment to executing your ideas is the ONLY way to even come close to becoming successful and is a far surer bet than any other way you can think of!

When you slip and fall you have not hit the lottery. It takes more than falling in a public place to get the big pay off. You probably have heard the story about the thief that got trapped in the garage and lived on nothing, but dog food. After he was rescued he sued the home owner and got a multi million dollar settlement.

These myths are common, and I am of the opinion that they are fabricated by big business and insurance companies. For years stories like these have been popping out, and people believe them without questioning them. When there is an actually injury the public likewise thinks there was no injury and that it is just another frivolous lawsuit. Big settlements and jury verdicts are a result of very severe injuries caused by person's failure to act reasonably.

Some people are excited to be involved in some sort of an injury causing event they think they have won the lottery. They often call attorneys and are in total shock to find that an attorney will not state what the value of the case is and that in most instances the attorney will not accept the case to begin with. Contrary to popular belief the vast majority of lawyers only accept cases with merit. Occasionally attorneys accept cases that are marginal, but it is usually because they erred in their judgment or somehow the case got through. What usually happens is that the attorney withdraws from the case and the case never makes it to trial.

To prove a case there are generally three to four factors. The plaintiff has to prove the defendant did something wrong. The standard is what a reasonable person would do in that specific situation. Sometimes the standard of care is set by statute sometimes it is set by case law and sometimes by other means. For example driving 55 in front of a school zone would be considered unreasonable and therefore the driver did something wrong.

The second factor is that there a connection between the conduct of the wrongdoer and the injured person. If the driver is driving 55 and you fall on the wet school floor, then there is no connection. The third factor is that you have to suffer injury, it could be economic injury or physical injury or psychological injury or a combination of these. Once again there has to be a connection between the injury and the wrongful conduct. Last you have to prove the severity of the injury. Hurt feelings are usually not compensable. Occasionally you will see what are called nominal awards, where the plaintiff is awarded $1 to show that he won.

So how do you get a million dollars on a slip and fall case ? You have prove the defendant did something wrong, that the conduct or omission caused you injury, you have to prove the injury, and the defendant actually has to be able to pay.

To get a million dollars on a slip and fall case you would need to prove that the defendant did something wrong. If you fell at a supermarket for example, you have to show that the store operator did something wrong. It is not enough to say there was spilled milk and you fell on the spilled milk. You have to prove the milk had been in the floor a very long time.

Usually slip and fall accidents occur because of another customer's negligence, such as when they spill liquids or food products that lead to injury to another customer. The store operator usually has set schedules where the store is swept or mopped with regularity. If you can in fact prove the milk had been on the floor for say four hours, you then have to show you were injured. The standard of proof for these cases is high and proving these claims is difficult. In most cases there are no witnesses and when they are video cameras, the tapes are mysteriously unavailable.

Assuming you can prove that the store operator did something wrong, you then you have to prove the injury was very severe. If you are paralyzed from the shoulders down you now have a million dollar case. This of course does not mean you will get a million dollar award. There is still the issue of ability to pay. Your corner liquor store is not likely to have a million dollars or a million dollars of insurance coverage.
