Just because somebody tells you that something like vinyl flooring is a great option for your home doesn't necessarily mean that that is what you should do for your home.

Many people ask the question, what is the vinyl floor? While it is a simple enough question to ask, but the real truth is that it really depends on what type of flooring it is you're looking to have. If you want to have the flooring set up which includes ordinary people just living a day to day life than vinyl flooring is probably not for you. However if you are looking to buy flooring for a gymnasium or if you are trying to buy flooring for a kitchen back room at a restaurant or something like that where vinyl flooring would be easy to clean and cheap then that is a completely different story.

The truth is that many people are completely fine with the floor that they have. If this is you and you feel no reason to replace your floor or do any changes to it then you shouldn't. Just because somebody tells you that your floor would be a great setup for vinyl flooring should not influence you one way or the other towards changing your flooring situation to something as dramatic as vinyl flooring. However if you feel like you've needed to change or flooring for some time now and you feel like vinyl flooring is the answer for you that you should speak somebody who does the installation even if you plan doing it yourself. Just because you plan to do the vinyl flooring installation yourself just because you feel like you know what's going on is not make you a qualified expert on vinyl flooring, unless you are a qualified expert on the floor. So you should speak to somebody and get their opinions and have them come at your house or your location and see if vinyl flooring would be a good fit for what it is that you're trying to do.

Vinyl flooring actually requires little maintenance but it still requires some level of care to make it last. First off, it should be swept several times a week to remove dirt and grit. This material will wear the floor when it is walked on and will shorten its life if not removed often. At least once a week you should then mop your vinyl flooring. Use a cleaner designed for vinyl floors or a mild household detergent. To mop the floor mix up your solution and mop a layer onto your floor. Let it dwell for a minute and then mop it up. Allowing it to dwell will help it break down and absorb soil. Follow this up with a rinse using a mop bucket full of plain water to remove any residue for a floor that will stay cleaner longer. Place fans on the floor to speed up the drying if you need to put the floors back in use quickly. That is about all there is to the cleaning. If you choose to use a cleaner with a built in polish or protectant be sure to check with your manufacturer to make sure that it will not damage your finish.

Obviously no floor is maintenance free but vinyl is about as close as you will get. That being said, there is still some maintenance that needs to be done. Just do this little maintenance and you will have a floor that will last and beautify your home for many many years.
