[H1721]How To Use Concrete
by Gateway Fasteners, Gat
A concrete fastener is a screw, bolt system, or other fastening technique, designed to attach any non-structural object to a section of concrete. The concrete can be in the ground, or it can be part of a wall or other standing structure. There are an unlimited number of uses for a concrete fastener.

Concrete fasteners and concrete anchors are structurally and linguistically the same thing, the term ?fastener? is used when describing non-structural attachments, ?anchor? is used when describing different ways to hold a building or other structure in place. Concrete anchors are much bigger than concrete fasteners.

Concrete fasteners are normally made from galvanized carbon or stainless steel. They are very strong and weather-resistant. Galvanization is a process whereby zinc is added to the surface of the fastener via electrostatic plating. The zinc preserves the integrity of the steel, and keeps the elements out. Stainless steel is steel mixed with chromium or some other metal, this keeps the steel corrosion and rust-resistant, and prevents the steel from staining whatever it is drilled into. The carbon adds a new level of strength and insulation from the corrosive effects of concrete.

A concrete fastener can find its way into a myriad of situations, including, but not limited to: countertops, furniture, basements, driveways, fireplace surrounds, foundations and foundation repair, landscape borders, patios, pool decks, and water fountains.

When considering what type of concrete fastener to use for a given job, consider these elements: the hollowness or solidness of the underlying concrete, whether the concrete is outdoors or indoors, distance from corners, bars, and other obstructions.

Concrete sealers are very useful when it comes to finding an easy way to save you from the huge costs involved in concrete floor renovation. Sealers are usually used in conjunction with concrete stains for enhanced protection. Stains and sealers together form a goo combo that can fight off the ill effects of the many factors that lead to the deterioration of concrete floors. Sealers, as the name suggests, are meant to seal of damaged concrete floors so that they are not damaged any further.

Concrete is inherently one of the most durable building materials around and on its own it can last years and years. However, sometimes the concrete flooring can start to develop cracks. These cracks may develop due to reasons like poor structural planning that puts undue stress on the flooring, poor concrete mixing procedure or poor quality material used during the process, etc. When these cracks start, they are usually hairline and very hard to detect with the naked eye. However, once they have appeared, they continue to grow till they become quite visible and then threatening. Cracks are widened by daily use factors like dirt, grime and moisture. These things settle into the crevices and as they start settling in, they exert pressure sideways and cause the cracks to grow wider.

If these cracks are not filled and repaired soon, they will grow to a point where they will be beyond repair. In this case you will require a complete renovation or a rebuilding of the concrete floor, which includes completely removing your existing flooring and laying fresh concrete in its place. Not only do you have to pay the contractor but you will also have to pay fort the materials and labor. The bottom line is that it is very expensive to let the damage go that far.

Concrete sealers represent and easy and painless solution to your concrete problems. It will bring down your maintenance cost to near zero, you can get by for a long time without need to renovate your flooring. So you do not need to move out of house, move the furniture out and rent a storage space for them. Everything is so much more convenient for you and the best part is that it is very easy to use. Hence, a lot of people prefer to just do it by themselves as a personal DIY project instead of paying a contractor.
