If you're single and looking for love, how often does it seem like you are searching for a buried treasure? If finding love seems this difficult, it may be just the wrong place or time or it may be that you are looking too hard. In most cases, that which we are searching for is right in front of us. Ok, so maybe your dream mate isn't staring you in the face right now, but he/she may not be that far away either.

Many people think that being single is a curse, but it can be quite liberating. With that being said, everyone wants to have that someone special in their life. Believe it or not, the best way to find love is to stop looking for it. Like most things in life, what's meant to be will find you at the right time. Of course, you will have some say in the matter but, when the time and person are both right, all of the cards will fall into place.

Did you know that the way you carry yourself says a lot about you? It does and others will notice it. The next time you are out, pay a little more attention to your posture. Walk straight and try to smile. A friendly face is always inviting. When you present yourself with confidence, others will be drawn to you. It's important to practice this exercise not for the purpose of finding love, but for improving your overall self-esteem. When you feel better about yourself, others will feel better about you too.

A lot of singles go out with the sole purpose of finding a date. If these same old dating hot spots haven't worked for you in the past, why would they work now? Skip the old haunts and do something for yourself. Take in a movie, join a book club or treat yourself to dinner. You can meet someone at the grocery store, so why spend so much time at places that you may ‘think' your perfect mate is waiting? In most cases, you will discover that the things most worth having are those that find their way to you.

When you learn to enjoy being single and appreciate the independence that comes with it, you will discover that you have your own life with your own interests. Once you grow into the person that you are meant to be, you will be ready to find love and will be able to balance that newly-discovered independence with the joy of having a significant other. So, how can you find love without even looking? It's easy. Play hard to get and let love find you.

Dating after a divorce can be scary. Often divorcees cringe at the idea of getting back into the dating game. Their reasons vary. I've heard some say that they feel out of practice and don't know what to do or say on a date because it's been so long. Others complain that they don't know how to meet people.

Usually the source of this anxiety is simply insecurity. It's only natural that a person be hesitant to put their heart on the line after being burned by an ex-partner. It's also understandable if your confidence in yourself has been shaken following a divorce.

While this is a normal feeling to have, don't let it get the best of you! It's perfectly fine to feel nervous, but it is not okay to let your nerves get the best of you! Remember that everybody is a little nervous about going on a first date with someone new, so you're not alone.

Also, remember that there is a huge difference between not being emotionally ready to date and being anxious about it. Often I hear recently divorced people say that getting back into dating after a divorce is too hard. Sometimes they say they're not ready. Granted, this can be a legitimate feeling, but often it seems like an excuse because they're feeling insecure. Don't fall into that mindset!

Now the only problem is how to get a date. Often, divorcees realize that they don't know a lot of single people. Married couples tend to gravitate toward other married couples. People who are divorced may also find that they're not particularly enthused about looking for potential mates in crowded, noisy bars.

Thankfully, there are alternatives to this. One possible solution is using an online dating web site. Lots of people are doing it, because it's a fast and easy way to connect with people from all over your city - or even all over the world.

Sites such as match.com allow you to make a user profile, in which you introduce yourself, write about your likes, values, and goals, and perhaps display a photograph or two. You can also peruse others' profiles to see if anybody special catches your eye. Contact is only a click away!

Starting to date after your divorce doesn't need to be a horrifying, traumatic ordeal. It should be a time of excitement and anticipation; you have an opportunity to start anew. Embrace the experience, don't be afraid to put yourself out there, and most importantly of all, have fun!
