[I140]If You Dont Want Me To
by Anna Johnson, Ann
Well, whether or not you believe taking a course or going to college or grad school is worth it, what is beyond doubt is the need for continuous informal learning. Reading books, magazines, journals and articles... attending seminars, workshops and conferences... consulting with experts... joining professional associations... These are all activities that may or may not require much investment in terms of time, money and effort... yet are crucial to your ongoing career development.

Moreover, nothing will destroy your career development more than thinking that you already know it all. After all, true experts - whether in sports, the arts, business or any endeavor - typically say they don't already know it all and that they are always learning.

Who would you rather be? Someone who closes their mind to new insights and deeper understandings... and therefore hinders their career development... or someone who strives to learn and grow and gets those promotions, new jobs, and all the rewards that go along with those achievements? Really, embracing and investing in ongoing learning is the only option. After all, learning is the only way to grow as a person (not just as a professional).

For example, imagine you're a hairdresser who has spent the last 10 years cutting and styling hair. Does being a professional hairdresser for that period of time mean you know everything there is to know about hairdressing? Well, yes, you know how to cut hair. But look around - new hairstyles and new variations of old hairstyles are constantly coming into fashion. Which is simply the result of new techniques, new styles, new hair products and new tools being created.

That being the case, if you were a hairdresser who was serious about your career development, you would constantly be reading the latest hairdressing trade magazines, attending hairdressing conferences and shows, and trying new techniques, styles, products and tools.

Just ask my hairdresser. She is, pardon the pun, a cut above most, because she continues to learn and develop her skills. And that's why she is able to charge multiples of what the average hairdresser can charge - you know, the hairdresser toiling away in a salon in the mall, earning minimal wages, and wondering why they can't get ahead even though they "know it all".

So please, avoid the mindset of "knowing it all" and, instead, be open to learning, whether it's the formal or informal kind. This is how you will continue to develop in your career and grow in general.

It is important that you truly understand that not all Poodle breeders are friends of their puppies. There are a lot of people who only see dollar signs when they see the puppies and care for nothing when it comes to the mental and physical well being of those animals. These are the breeders that you will want to watch out for and make sure that you look for signs of abuse and if you can prove it, you will want to turn them in.

If you get a puppy from a breeder that was harmful then you can expect a lot of problems with your puppy even though it may seem fine right now. There could be a lot of internal problems that you could experience and a lot of emotional trauma that was caused by abuse.

When you venture out to meet with different Poodle breeders, make sure you are allowed the time and opportunity to look around their surroundings and make sure you try and see things through the eyes of the puppies. If you are being kept away from where the puppies are kept on a day to day basis, there is probably a good reason for that so that should be a warning sign for you.

If there is anything about the breeder or the situation that make you uncomfortable then there is a reason for it and you should listen to your instincts. Make sure that you pay attention to how the puppies act around the breeders because if they seem tense or afraid, then there is probably some abuse going on.

Also, you will want to ask a lot of questions, even if you already know the answers, just to make sure that the breeder knows what they are talking about. If they try to avoid your questions it could be that they are in it for all the wrong reasons.

While of course you can expect the conversation of money to come up as you are naturally going to have questions and the Poodle breeders do not want to waste their time with someone who is not serious, you want to watch how much they talk about it. If money seems to be the only thing that the Poodle breeders are concerned with, you may want to leave and try again with someone else as they apparently are in it for nothing more then money.

All good breeders know that they should try and provide you with a lot of information about the breed and about the particular puppies you are looking at.

If they seem to lack that knowledge or the desire to share what they do know with you then you really need to go somewhere else because they are probably not very good breeders as far as you can see.
