[K37]Keys Unlock The World
by Simransimran, Sim
Being wait-listed is tough, and you need the right set of keys to open the door to your dream program. The truth is that even with these keys, it's still not guaranteed that the lock will work. But this keychain has the critical pieces of metal you'll need to turn that lock.
First, a word of introduction: Realize that receiving a wait-list letter means you qualify for admission. You pass. You are probably on the wait-list (and not admitted) because they have already admitted applicants with your profile and want diversity in the class. Or they find your qualifications impressive, but find someone else's even more so.
Now let's examine that keychain.
Key 1: Read the letter for any hints of deficiency in your profile and attempt to improve that element in your profile.
Key 2: Give them more reasons to admit you. If the school encouraged contact, inform it of new achievements, initiatives, promotions, and developments in your life. This suggestion implies developing a proactive campaign for contact roughly every 2-3 weeks. The exact particulars will vary depending on your school, specialty, and exactly when you are put on the wait list, but it can include letters, additional visit(s) to the school, an offer to interview, letters of support from others, and occasional phone calls.
Letters should be 1-2 pages. For tips on the letters' content, please see "Wait-list Purgatory."
Key 3: Reinforce the idea of a fit between you and the school. Demonstrate how a visit confirmed and deepened your interest in the program. Show how recent activities reveal that your values and the school's are a match made in heaven.
Key 4: Enlist your fan club. Seek additional letters of recommendation from supervisors on and off the job and professors (if applying to an academic program). Current students and recent alumni who know you can also write letters of support and emphasize your fit with the program.
Key 5: Ask if there is anything you can do to improve your candidacy. There usually isn't, but if there is you want to know about it and do it. If you have already demonstrated improvement in that aspect of your profile, let them know how you have improved since you applied.
It is much harder to wave the flag when the school doesn't want contact. But even in these cases, you can be proactive, just more indirect. If feasible, visit the school and take a tour. If you know alumni or faculty members, ask them to put in a good word for you at the school. You can't be responsible if your fan club thinks you belong at School X and wants to inform the admissions committee. You will have to be a little more indirect, but you still want someone to show fit and that "new and improved" you. Do you want to succeed in achieving Astral Projection / Out of body experience? If yes, then I am about to show you the 3 MOST IMPORTANT steps that will drastically increase your chances of success. These 3 steps are like a combination lock. In order to succeed, you need to do all of them! So lets begin?

Step 1 - Physical Relaxation :
Physical relaxation is the foundation on which your success is based. Without properly relaxing your body, it is almost impossible to make a conscious exit. Your goal should be to get to a stage where you are not even aware that you have a physical body.

There are many different types of relaxation techniques. The most commonly used is Progressive Relaxation. You can employ any other technique that you enjoy and find effective. In this article, we will briefly discuss the Progressive Relaxation technique.

Progressive Relaxation :
This is a very effective relaxation method that suits almost any kind of individual. I suggest you try this before any other method.

In this relaxation technique, you need to focus on each part of the body for a few moments and mentally relax it. You start from your toes and slowly move upwards towards your scalp. You should move to the next part of your body only when you feel that the previous part is completely relaxed.

Lie on your back and shut your eyes. If your circumstances do not allow you to lie down, you can even sit on your chair. Make sure you are comfortable.

Begin to inhale slowly through your nose. Keep on inhaling slowly, very slowly till 8'10 seconds. Your lungs should now be full. Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Then slowly exhale till 8-10 seconds. Your lungs should now be completely empty. Wait for a few seconds and repeat this cycle a couple of times.

Now lets start relaxing the body. Make sure your eyes are shut. Feel your toes and sense their weight. Imagine they are tired and tensed. Consciously relax your toe muscles and make them at ease. Imagine that all the cells in your toes are on a strike! They are not working, so they are totally relaxed! Your toes should now be so relaxed that they no longer seem to be a part of your body.

Repeat the same with your soles, ankles, calves, knees, upper legs, thighs, abdomen, chest, buttocks, back, fingers, wrist, hands, upper arms, shoulders, neck, eyes, eyelids, cheeks, mouth, jaw, head and scalp

Once you have relaxed your scalp, mentally scan your entire body. If you find any place that is still tense, then consciously relax that part.

If you are doing this kind of an exercise for the first time, the entire process should take around 10-15 minutes. But if you take longer, no problem! Don't rush the process. Take your time. But with practice, you can achieve the same level of relaxation in less than 1 minute! Regular practice is the key.

Once you are through with this exercise, you will feel utterly relaxed and calm! This is an amazing exercise that you can do any time anywhere.

As I just said, relaxing your body is non-negotiable. Without this it is be very difficult to Astral Project consciously. So we need to get good at it. Practice physical relaxation regularly.

Step 2 - Silencing the mind :
Hundreds of thoughts run through our heads every minute. This internal dialogue is like a constantly chattering monkey. We generally do not notice these thoughts in our day-to- day lives. But when we take up the daunting task of silencing our mind, we become aware of how difficult it is to free ourselves of these vagrant thoughts.

When you want to relax and quiet your mind, say for an Astral Projection attempt, these thoughts and images become annoyances and will hinder the mind taming process.

Your goal is to be an observer of the internal world. A way to do this is by simply focusing on the blackness behind your closed eyes. Another way is to focus on your breath. Alternatively, some people choose to use mantras, or simply count from 1 to 10 repeatedly.

Whatever method you use, you have to simply observe any thoughts or feelings that arise, don't analyze and describe them. Experiences and sensations would come and go, but don't pay any attention to them. Just let them pass?

This is not very easy to achieve. But with regular practice, you will be in full control of your thoughts. You would be able to extend this state of ?no-thoughts? for longer periods of time. This feeling is of pure tranquility!

After Steps 1 and 2, you can now completely relax your body and silence your mind. This is a remarkable achievement and a foundation for all kinds of meditative practice, including Astral Projection.

Step 3 ? Use an exit technique :
Once the body is relaxed (Step 1) and the mind is silenced (Step 2), we need an exit technique that will trigger Astral Projection (Step 3)

There are hundreds of Astral projection techniques available. Since all individuals are different, the ideal method and entirely effective formula to leave the body still does not exist. You, a candidate to conscious projection, must check which method best suits you.

Since there is no universal method that would work for everyone to attain conscious projection, I will present many different kinds of techniques. You should know them all so that you can find the one most effective for you. Some of the popular techniques are:

Robert Bruce's Rope Technique ,
Watch Yourself While Going To Sleep Technique ,
Monroe's Technique ,
Projection from Lucid Dreams ,
The Hypnopompic State Method ,
The Red Spot Method ,
The Object Technique ,
Displaced Awareness Method ,
The Jump Technique ,
Affirmations ,
Muldoon's Thirst Technique ,
Stretch-out Technique ,
The Hammock Technique ,
The Trampoline Technique.

These 3 Keys that we have discussed will give you all the required foundation for a successful, enjoyable and completely conscious Astral Projection. All the best!
