Your best bet in today's modern age is to turn to internet and find out activities for learning for each of the years. Usually there are a separate set of activities for up to 2 years of age. Then there are activities for ages between two to four. Next are the activities for kids beyond four. Note that in all this the kids have to mentally prepared to participate in the activities.

There are a few tips that you can use to have that fun learning sessions with the kid. You can form a play club with in your community area and invite the kids to your home every weekend for two hours. It will help a lot as the kid's understand better if they see the other kids doing something and also the social setting will help the kid to battle his shyness.

The golden rule in all this group activity is to reward a kid when he or she does something good but that reward should be such that it should not belittle other kids. May be the other kids clapping for this kid is enough. Also then make sure that you at the end of the session have the parent's clapping for each and every kid specifically. This is the form of encouragement that the kids need.

The television is now a medium which help the kids a lot. All sorts of cartoon movies and characters are kid's best friends nowadays. Your intervention is also required here as you do not want your kid to be watching television all the time. Set a discipline of two hours of television each day with emphasis on good learning programs. Then try to emulate those programs by involving the kids in group activity and enact those programs. Make sure that you ask your kid about what they have understood. This will make the whole exercise a learning event.

Rewards definitely help so make sure that you reward each little accomplishment of the kid while learning. The opposite is also true that you should impose a penalty if your kids start acting defiantly.
