[J70]Jobs In Asbestos Removal
by Rick Martin, Ric
Asbestos is one of the most dangerous minerals that is known to man and yet even knowing this we still continued to use it in our homes and buildings for the larger part of the 21st century. Today we are faced with the issue of asbestos removal from our homes and offices and yet it is not as simple a process as you might think and requires the experience of a professional.

Asbestos removal is not a simple process and it is not something that should be done on your own. Asbestos removal requires a great deal of planning and care. It is now known that asbestos exposure can cause death. Today, the use of asbestos causes some of the worst diseases imaginable. It is known to cause fibrosis, lung cancer, asbestos warts, pleural plaques lung cancer, and worst of all mesothelioma.

The worst news yet, is that we have known about asbestos from the very beginning. Asbestos was used by ancient Greece, but was discontinued when it was found that slaves were dying after having used tunics made of asbestos. The Romans used it to make wicks and even mixed with other materials to make clothing.

Unfortunately it wasn't until the 1980's that we were able to confirm the dangers of this material. It wasn't until 1940 that research found that it caused mesothelioma. The worst is, we still continued to use this mineral in homes, buildings, insulation, and ship building until the later part of the 21st century. England was the first country to ban the mining of this chemical, soon to be followed by the United States, and Japan. Developing countries have also banned it, but have a harder time in controlling the use of asbestos.

Among the different advantages of asbestos is, that it is resistant to fire and chemicals, and is a very flexible material. This has made it an attractive product in the past, and today for people in developing countries. Places like India report high numbers of mesothelioma on a yearly basis.

The worst part of asbestos exposure is that it may take 20 to 40 years to present itself. In fact, medical research suggests that many cases will not appear until 2020 or 2040. It is estimated that more than a million people will die from mesothelioma within the next decades. Worst yet developing nations have no safety requirements in place for its use. Thus the best solution is to ban the use, and the mining of asbestos in all countries.

Asbestos is an extremely dangerous material and if you happen to have bought, or are remodeling a home or building that has asbestos in it; you should proceed with extreme care. If you have asbestos in your home or in an office, it is absolutely essential that you have an asbestos removal process done, and this process can best be done by a contractor that specializes in asbestos.

There are many different asbestos removal companies that can remove asbestos quickly and efficiently, but you should still choose the company carefully. Check to make sure that the company is a certified asbestos contractor and has all the necessary licenses. Contractor's credentials are absolutely essential when removing asbestos quickly and safely from your property. Check the contractor's references. Talk to previous customers and you will understand the process better and know if the contractor is offering excellent service or not.

At some point you must have seen some kind of news report related to the danger of asbestos, and how this mineral can get into a humans lungs and cause severe damage. You might have even seen some kind of advertising by an asbestos removal company. Do you really know what asbestos is and how it can affect you?

Asbestos is a form of natural minerals that include chrysotile, crocidolite, tremolite asbestos, amosite, actinolite asbestos, and anthophyllite asbestos. These minerals put together are fire resistant and, because of this quality, they were used in the construction industry for a long time. Although most countries do not use asbestos in construction any longer or choose asbestos removal from the old buildings, some of the developing countries still continue to produce it.

As mentioned above asbestos was used in the construction industry in the mid 1900 to the late 1980s and although it is no longer used, houses and buildings from that era may still continue to have products that used or were made of asbestos. The reason products that were made with asbestos were pulled from the market is because asbestos was found to cause serious lung diseases when people are exposed to the element for long periods of time.

Many people are exposed to small quantities of asbestos in their homes and in their offices, but there are people, especially in the construction industry, manufacturing, shipping industry, who are constantly exposed to it. Working with asbestos is a highly risky endeavor and special procedures need to be taken when dealing with asbestos. That is why when you start a remodeling project and asbestos is found in your house it is best to hire an asbestos specialist. He will decide for or against asbestos removal.

An asbestos contractor is a highly specialized contractor who has to be licensed that is dedicated to working with asbestos. Removing asbestos is not as easy as it might seem. There are special safety precautions that need to be taken, and only someone that has special training in the field should do it.

A licensed asbestos contractor must fill several requirements to get his license. They even has to take a test and prove that they have experience in the field. When an asbestos contractor starts a project; they must request a permit for asbestos removal. The objective of such permits is so that the state can keep track of the asbestos removal and make sure that it is done in a safe and effective manner because the disturbance of asbestos causes the particles to become airborne and the minerals can easily be inhaled. Asbestos is known to cause several kinds of cancer, and other serious respiratory diseases. This is why both the government and the contractors want to keep a tight reign on the asbestos removal and do it in a safe and efficient way.
