If you become a technician, some of your duties will be to perform x-rays on various parts of the body, operate diagnostic machines and to help prepare patients for radiological examinations. There are quite a few promotional opportunities for those with a degree and some experience.

You may also be trained to do obstetric ultrasound, which means you will take images of the fetus to determine if the baby is growing as it should and to detect any abnormalities.

Ultrasound radiology technicians are also responsible for being able to identify any problems with the equipment that they use. They must be very familiar with the machine and be able to detect minor problems before they become bigger problems.

You may also be responsible for updating patients' charts and for other administrative and clerical duties. You may be required to do scheduling and filing or other related tasks as well.
