lot of hand movements. Your dog needs to be able to see what you want

it to do without being destracted. The training equiptment will differ

between breeds. Some dogs are more active, wile others are really quiet

and docile.

A dog will need to do a trick anywhere from 30 to 50 times before

learning the trick. If the dog picks up a wrong way to do the trick, it

will continue to do it until you can persuade it otherwise. It will

take way more than 50 times for the dog to get the trick right if this

happens. If your dog picks up a wrong way to do the trick, you should

correct it immediately.

If you are training your dog for a long period of time and things arent

working out for either you or the dog, then its time to change training

techniques and/or training equiptment. Your dog might be getting too

stressed out from the equiptment that you are using, and therefore, it

is resisting your commands.

One small secret to training your do is to show it an object that it

likes, like food or a special toy of his. Then you will need to show

the dog what you want it to do. If the dog doesnt understand what you

want, you should consider breaking the trick down into smaller parts.

As your dog gets each part of the trick, you should reward it with the

food or toy. The next step of training is to not give your dog the

reward every time it completes a trick. This will make the dog want to

do more to get the treat or toy. You will slowly increase the tricks

without giving your tog the reward until it can do the trick ten times

in a row without a reward. Then its time to change the reward from a

treat or a toy, to hand gestures.

The lead you are using might be wrong for the dog. You might be using a

leather lead that is heavy, but your dog might need something lighter.

Small hand movements might be better for your particular dog, instead

of a big heavy lead. You should also consider the fact that you may not

be calm when trying to train your dog. Your dog can sense this and

might be reacting to your tenseness. Try relaxing when training your

dog, you may find that things will work out much better for you both.

Training your dog can be fun and stressfull at times. Stressful for

both you and the dog. Remember to hide your stress at all costs

though-your dog can sense it. The trick to training is to ease the

stress for the dog as much as possible. Try to make it fun for the dog.

Dont ever scold your dog for not getting the trick down pat, this will

certainly deter the dog from trying anything new. If the dog doesnt do

the trick, simply dont give it the treat or toy.

For lovers of the outdoors, there is nothing more enjoyable than getting away from the rat-race by taking a long hike in the wilderness. Indeed with so many of us confined to our desks in office jobs, caught up in the hectic bustle of city living, there is no greater need to get back to nature. Hiking is one of the best ways of doing just that. Not only does hiking take us into the restorative calm of the wilderness, reminding us of the wonders of nature, it is also a terrific way to exercise!

Ask any serious hiker, and they will tell you that it is imperative to have the right gear before you set out on a hike. After all, when you are out in the wilderness, you need to be prepared for anything. Embarking on a hike without the proper equipment is not only foolhardy, it can be downright dangerous!

The sort of gear and equipment you will need for your hike will depend on the weather conditions you are likely to encounter; the terrain you will be hiking through and the duration of your hike. Each hike is different, so you need to think through your equipment with every individual outing.

That said there is a variety of essential gear to get you started. For example, quality fitted hiking boots are a must. Many hikers opt for heavy duty, waterproof hiking boots that can endure all weather and terrain. Be sure your hiking boots are well fitted ? sore blistered feet are no fun!

A good quality rain jacket is another must have. This will be one of your first purchases, and you should always opt for a durable, light jacket if possible. Even if you don't expect wet weather, rain jackets are light and easy to carry, and you would be surprised how often weather forecasts are incorrect!
Always carry a compass and a map, even on the most basic route. While you may never either of these items, it is imperative to have them in the even you get lost.

Likewise, you should take along a small but well-stocked first aid kit, a flash light and waterproof matches. If you plan to do overnight hikes, you'll also need to look into tents, sleeping bags, packs and cooking equipment.

Whatever your plan, the items mentioned above are the basic, indispensable items that all sensible hikers recommend no matter what the level or experience of the hiker. No backpack is ready without them!
