The Las Vegas production of the hit musical Jersey Boys will be adding a face that has proven himself on stage over and over again: Deven May. He will take over as Tommy DeVito starting at the beginning of December. He is very familiar with the role as he played DeVito in the national tour of the show. He will be joining Erich Bergen as Bob Gaudio, Rick Faugno as Frankie Valli and Jeff Leibow as Nick Massi. He is replacing Erik Bates, who is leaving the Las Vegas show to join the touring production of Jersey Boys.

May grew up in San Diego, California and loved acting from a young age. His parents, however, were not as keen on the idea of May trying to make his way as an actor. They were worried that he would have problems keeping steady work. In the last decade, May has developed enough of a reputation for that no longer to be a concern. He is also an accomplished graphic designer and photographer. He was working as a graphic designer and also a character at Universal Studios when he first stumbled onto his big break. He tried out by a new musical created about a famous tabloid story in the Weekly World News, called Bat Boy, The Musical. May was instantly recognized by lyricist and composer Laurence O'Keefe for his ability to transform into a variety of characters seamlessly.

May was cast to create the title role of the show, which meant him shaving his head and donning a ridiculous amount of makeup to transform into the famed batboy. He was first seen in the role in Los Angeles in 1997. The show was a success with critics, as was May. He stayed with the show as it moved to New York in 2000 and then to Off-Broadway in 2001. He also played the same role when the musical went to London's West End. May has been making a name for himself in other shows as well like A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde, Elegies and Warrior.
