[L366]List Of Affiliate Programs
by Mal Keenan, Mal
Throughout the coming weeks, I am going to thoroughly cover the intricacies of making money online through affiliate programs. Consider this as an online course that is aimed for your benefit. A good affiliate program, after all, with the generous commission scheme and the liberty it provides, is one of the best, if not the best, home business opportunities in the World Wide Web.

An affiliate program as a home business opportunity is an arrangement between an affiliate merchant and an affiliate, you. Once you have enrolled in an affiliate program, you will be tasked to pre-sell the products of an affiliate merchant. You will be able to do this by marketing the said products and finding potential customers.

Consider the benefits that an affiliate program can do for you and see for yourself why this is a profitably viable home business opportunity:

* The commission you will receive per successful sale is very high. We're talking in the range of 10 to 95%. This opportunity would definitely pay better than most sales jobs in real life.

* You don't have to sell the affiliate merchant's products. You don't have to worry about writing sales copies and processing payments. You don't have to concern yourself about deliveries and possible refunds. All you have to do is to pre-sell the affiliate merchant's products and hope that the person you have reached would eventually buy from your affiliate link.

Pre-selling doesn't require that much work, as more often than not, everything is provided for you by the product or service owner. You just have to make sure that the prospective client would get to know about the affiliate merchant's offer by referring him through your affiliate link, and that's it, basically speaking. Of course, there's more you could do to assure maximum success in this area, but we will discuss those in succeeding lessons.

* Affiliate marketing is, generally, a passive income stream, meaning, it's a home business opportunity that could make you earn even while you're offline. This is made possible because the affiliate program is mostly automated. Once a system is set into motion, you could sit back, relax, and wait for your commissions to come to you.

* There are so many strategies you could use for this type of home business. If one wouldn't give you the results you have expected, you could try a thousand more approached differently that could pave the way to your success. Of course you could try a lot of techniques simultaneously for enhanced results.

* You could join as many affiliate programs as you'd like to increase the number of your income streams. This would ensure that you could expect earnings from numerous sources. If one underperforms, there would always be others to count on. This can be a venture with a lot of heads that could generate so much profit!

Clearly, there are many fantastic advantages in capitalizing on affiliate programs! Most affiliate programs require no fees to join, so it would be wise to take advantage of this.

Affiliate programs can be a lucrative way to make a full-time income from home.

In this article we are going to talk about what happened to me and how I now understand why representing reputable affiliate programs is so very important.

When I first set out to make money online in the fall of 2002 everything was foreign to me. I certainly did not have a website of my own and even sending email was a chore. I was o.k. with that because most of my friends were in the same boat as me and I worked hard at learning what to do.

What I quickly learned to like was the concept of affiliate marketing. Because I did not have any products of my own I liked the idea I could get paid to sell products for companies and get paid for it.

I was an outside sales rep that had built up one of the largest territories in the country selling over $3 Million a year in products. I had a solid customer base that ordered from me on a regular basis. it was almost residual income which helped shape my opinion of using affiliate programs to create residual income online.

Locating products to sell that people buy over and over was a little harder than selling leads, eBooks. or clicks. I liked to sell hosting because this affiliate product had some longevity to it. So the commissions come every month just for making one sale. I liked that.

Flash forward to the fall of 2007. I am a full time internet marketer now. I have a website that ranks very high on Google bringing me great traffic. I am an affiliate for Google Adsense which brings me easy income when people click on ads on my site.

I am an affiliate for Max Bounty and earn commissions when people fill out short lead forms online. I have joined several affiliate programs that earn me residual income like the Plugin Profit Site, My Power Mall, SFI, Host4profit and others.

In 5 years now I get paid every month on time because these companies are reputable. Think about that for a moment. Why is it important?

1. You work hard to make sales so you deserve to get paid for your efforts.

2. You never deal face to face with the companies you represent so you have to trust that they will pay you.

3. Your customers trust you to deliver what you say you will and you rely on the affiliate company to back you up with that.

The internet is full of scam artists and companies that are not reputable. I have a simple way that I deal with that. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice shame on me.

In five years the only company to screw me out of my commissions was an article marketing company. They offered a article submissions service, which I sold because I used it and I liked it. That is another criteria I use on my main affiliate programs I represent. Being a customer of the products you sell is one way to make sure the company you reporesent is reputable.

This article marketing company was not a reputable affiliate program for several reasons.

1. They did pay on time or at all.

2. They ignored emails from their affiliates leaving you hanging high and dry.

3. They continued to let you make sales for them and then they keep all of the money knowing they will not pay you.

Number 3 is probably the worst. You work hard to make sales, you put their banners on your website, blog, inner pages, ezine ads etc. so it is very hard to go and find all of those and replace them. It's great for them because you just keep making them money!

Thankfully there are way more reputable affiliate programs than there are bad ones. In my case being stiffed out of almost $1000 dollars in commissions hurt, but it is not the end of the world.

It just reinforces the importance of trying to know more about who you represent. Do you due dilligence if it is going to be a major part of your business. Your reputation and income depend on it!
