You may have heard that pick up lines don't work. Well that is only half the story. The way to make a pick up line work is, yes, you've guessed it...is to not make it sound like a pick up line! If you were a woman would you rather hear "ouch, it must have hurt when you fell from heaven" or "hi there, that's a really cool necklace, what's the story behind it?"

Notice how one pick up line sounds like you are trying too hard while the other one sounds more natural. And that's the key to making pick up lines work.

Studies have shown that it is not what you say as much as how you say it. Communication between human beings is mostly non-verbal, which means that only 20 to 40% of what you actually say has any real meaning to the other person. And if you are talking over the phone, the tone of your voice can convey far more than your words. So keep that in mind when you want to pick up on someone. Personally, I don't like the term "pick up" I prefer the term "rapport".

Another thing that makes a pickup line effective is when you are not too concerned about the outcome. It is far more effective to be focused on making her feel good and trying to pick up on her. So here are for pick up lines that work basically because they do not sound like pick up lines.

"Excuse me, but I couldn't help but notice your necklace, it's very unique is there a story behind it?"

"Hey ladies, let me ask you, this will only take a sec, I was wondering what you thought about...?"

"Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that I'm in a real hurry right now so I don't really have a whole lot of time to be charming and witty. We will probably never see each other again so I'm going to be very forward and say that I think you have a very nice smile and we should get together for a drink sometime since I don't know anything about you." (This works extremely well when you see her walking on the street and you're walking in one direction and she is walking in another direction).

"Hi there, I would really like to talk to you and see what you're like but I haven't seen you smile yet so let's see that smile."

I want you to keep something in mind and that is this: that it is not so much what you say but how you say it. I cannot over emphasize this enough.

Unfortunately, this advice will fall on deaf ears because there are still plenty of men looking for pickup lines on the Internet. If a pickup line sound like a pick up line it loses its effectiveness. But if you can walk up to a woman and come off as natural, confident, and relaxed and you're only objective is to have some fun than you will find your dating calendar filling up much faster than you anticipated.
