The Bahamas is an archipelago of some 700 islands and cays in the Atlantic Ocean between Florida and Hispaniola. Sun, sand, and sea are merely perimeters of the Islands of the Bahamas. Christopher Columbus's first landfall in the New World in 1492 is believed to have been on the island of San Salvador (also called Watling's Island), in the southeastern Bahamas. The climate is tropical marine moderated by warm waters of Gulf Stream and it's perfect for sun vacation all year long. The islands are less than 10 miles from the south Florida coast, closer than other Caribbean destinations, and can be reached quickly and easily either by air or by sea. Lots of large airlines have flights to Bahamas, and also several charter airlines can drop you there. Frequent flights are available to Nassau, Freeport, and the Out Islands.

There are a lot of things to do in this tropical paradise. Anyone in search of the perfect beach should start here. Sailing finds an ideal location in The Bahamas. Each major island hosts its own regatta. The contests are taking place in late summer; the best are to be found on Exuma, Long Island, Nassau/Paradise Island or Freeport/Lucaya.

Also the islands are a great place for birding. One of the top destinations for ecotourism is Abaco National Park. The park is located in the southern part of Great Abaco Island in Bahamas between Hole in the Wall and Crossing Rocks. You can expect to see warblers, yellowthroats, West Indian woodpeckers, swallows and Cuban Emeralds and also hardwood forests, nature trails and wild Atlantic coast scenery, and fauna include butterflies, egrets, herons, spoonbills and rare hummingbirds. This was just a very short description of Bahamas. The sun, the ocean and the beaches make the islands a perfect destination for your vacations. You can find many information over the internet and see just a small part of the islands beauty. For the real thing go visit Bahamas.

Paradise Island is best known for the gigantic Atlantis Resort, but what most people don't know is there are several small hotels and Clubs where you can spend an almost perfect Bahamas Family vacation on one of the world's finest beaches. Such a place is the Sunrise Beach Villas. The perfect situation is just across the bridge from Nassau on Cabbage beach

Sunrise Beach Villas is one of the few remaining old fashioned style properties remaining in private hands on Paradise Island within walking distance of the famed Atlantis Casino Complex. One of the great things here is that you can sample all the pleasures of paradise Island and then return to Sunrise Beach Villas where you can enjoy peace and quiet in your own private comfortable villa.

Sunrise Beach Villas has two private pools, with plenty of deck chairs, and room to lie around in the sun. The beach which is right next door is huge and quite beautiful, and most importantly very quiet, in fact almost unpopulated.

Your villa has a well appointed kitchen, with a terrace or a patio, and you can choose from a one bedroomed up to five bedroom ocean front villas.

The great thing about this range of accommodation is that it is perfect for a Bahamas Family Vacation, and you can even bring grandparents, and you will still have room to spare.

Sunrise Beach Villas is really a home from home with Atlantis on your doorstep and grocery stores nearby. The grocery outlets are however expensive, so you need to bring the basics with you.

The whole atmosphere is very children friendly and they will make lots of friends, which helps the adult members of the family to have a great vacation at this popular Paradise Island Bahamas Hotel.

Apart from the villas there are hotel rooms as well which face the road, and they have a pool right in front of the room which gets the sun all day.

Nassau, Paradise Island whilst great for a Bahamas Family Vacation, is not a cheap place to go, but Sunrise Beach Villas is not that expensive. I hate to use the word cheap, because that infers low quality. It is very well equipped, the staff are very friendly and helpful, not always found in the more expensive hotels and resorts.

For food and drink, there is Violas Bar, which remains a best kept secret. The food here is quite outstanding, and has the reputation as being the best around, and then a short few steps away, down a path on the glorious beach there is a bar right on the beach, where you must try the Bahama Mama Cocktails.

To summarise Sunrise Beach Villas is a real getaway, and ideal for a Bahamas Family vacation due to its proximity to Atlantis, and the great beach it is positioned on, and the number of families there with children. You are close enough to the action, yet far enough away to easily get there and then escape which is ideal. Many people return here when they come to New Providence Island because they want to visit Atlantis.
