Don't get me wrong, calling friends and family is taught because it does work. If you are new to the industry I highly recommend that you work through your list with your network marketing success coach. If you've tried and failed then you need a different technique.
As a full time success coach, I can tell you that 90% of the new reps coming into our business are doing so after miserable failure in other home business opportunities. Most of these new reps think they have already burned all their bridges. I know this not to be the case but most people don't believe me so I don't press the issue so we incorporate other successful business building techniques.
Some successful networkers will tell you that if you don't make your list and call your friends and family that you are doomed and guaranteed to fail. This is untrue but you will need to a little more patient and tenacious.
The online marketing techniques that we teach came from a need to generate activity and do it without spending any money. Sure it can be easier if you have an advertising budget but often times our new reps have no expendable cash. I wanted to explore ways that would allow me to still reach a good amount of people and at the same time not spend any money.
I began getting some information on internet marketing. What I found is that almost all internet marketing is free? or very cheap. What I also found is that unlike calling a list of my family and friends internet marketing allowed me to find people who were actually interested in working from home and get them to call me!
By using techniques like: Craigslist, Wordpress, Ezinearticles, Forums, etc? I could get targeted traffic to my business website and actually have people begging me to sign up? not the other way around!
Now believe me I am not saying that you should be a secret agent and hide your business from the people around you. By all means share it! However, when you already have plenty of prospects picking up the phone and calling you or visiting your website you will be free to share your business without desperately needing them to sign up.
I like the restaurant analogy. Think of it this way, if you were going to open a restaurant you'd tell your friends and family right? But you wouldn't call them multiple times a day, and beg them to come eat there. It's the same thing with your home based business.
Your entire posture will change when you realize the power of what you have. You're not bothering people you're simply offering them something that most people want or need. You are doing them a favor by letting them know but you have no pressure because your building with or without them.

The leads come in many types of categories. The more screened the lead is regarding interest in getting involved with a home based company, the more expensive it is. As I have been working with online home based businesses leads have found that using more than one source of leads available to me at one time. I will purchase a small package of the more expensive leads as well as a group of leads that are cheaper because they are older or have not gone through any screening process. This way I will always have leads available to call. All lead supplying companies are not equal. I have found that companies that gather their information from people for a giveaway. These leads are not interested in home based businesses and they either ask a great deal of questions, which takes a great deal of time or they are angry that you have their contact information. I have found the most success with mid priced leads that include people that have expressed an interest in learning more about home based businesses. Trying more than one company will provide you with the best content for your money.
